UJI TEA 8 - A Green Tea Fragrance with a Surprising Evolution
UJI TEA 8 impressed me from the very first spray.
The opening is noticeably greener and more bitter than I initially expected. A dry tea note combined with a citrusy yuzu takes center stage at first. The yuzu provides a beautiful, bright freshness, but disappears relatively quickly on my skin.
After that, the green tea gradually becomes more prominent. The cherry initially remains more in the background, but becomes somewhat more noticeable as the fragrance develops. To me, it does not smell like a sweet cherry candy, but simply adds a subtle fruity facet to the dry tea.
I particularly like the contrast between the dry, bitter tea and the gradually increasing light sweetness.
After a few hours, the fragrance becomes noticeably softer and creamier. Nothing stands out anymore. The individual components blend into a very harmonious and appealing overall impression. I perceive the woods only very subtly.
I particularly enjoy this development: from the green, bitter-citrusy opening to a soft, slightly creamy-sweet drydown. Definitely not a typical “sweet summer fragrance” to me, and not a simple tea freshie either. UJI TEA 8 succeeds in combining freshness, bitterness and a subtle sweetness without any one component becoming too dominant.
