Nice rose fragrance if you don't mind reapplying

This is 90% fresh, blooming rose. The other 10% are made up of a very shy, lemony verbena and lotus flower. Upon application I find the rose smell very overpowering and almost sickening. Then again, I'm not used to the scent of roses, so that's probably why. I can't pick up on the vanilla at all.
For about the first 30 minutes this is too overpowering for me. After that, it tones down to a skin scent that I occasionally still pick up. A drop of rose is completely gone after about 2 to 3 hours. So much for longevity.

I've never been too crazy about the smell of roses, but I decided that I should at least give them a try. Unfortunately though, I'm still not able to make up my mind about the scent of roses, despite having worn this a couple of times. Most people around me seem to enjoy it though, so I guess it's not as offensive as I think it is.

A Drop of Rose is very close to being a single note perfume, as the rose is definitely center stage. It does not mix with the other notes, it just overpowers them, which is a shame. Very linear. Sillage could be better and longevity is outright bad. Some EdT's have better longevity than this. I wouldn't buy it again, but if you like roses and don't mind reapplying, then this is for you.

Blast from the past

It's light and lovely and very straightforward. No-nonsense. It's a true rose smell on me, like the rosewater we made as kids but then professionally bottled, even with an earthy wood smell. Very light, very subtle. Doesn't stay for long but it's a pleasant companion for an hour or two.

I must say I prefer the original though.

Natural Rose

I first tested the fragrance A Drop of Rose from the Pure DKNY series by Donna Karan about
two or three years ago at Müller. It impressed me positively right away. However, I didn't buy it immediately; it took over a year.
I purchased a 50 ml bottle. The bottle and packaging are kept simple, which reflects the pure and simple nature of the scent well.
Anyone looking for a sweet and powdery rose fragrance will be disappointed here and should look elsewhere.

A Drop of Rose is intended for fans of natural rose scents. At least, that's how I perceive the fragrance.
I smell a fresh rose, more like a slightly tart wild rose or dog rose, even though the fragrance pyramid lists Damask rose and Bulgarian rose. I would also suspect a few geraniums here.
This beautiful rose is further grounded by some amber and sandalwood, which fit perfectly.

The sillage is average, but for me, it's just the right level of perception.
I'm also very satisfied with the longevity for such a fresh scent.
Overall, it gives a rich-rosy impression with a slightly tart undertone - I like this freshness.
Freshness without veering into sweetness or being trivial.

It should appeal to fans of Weleda's discontinued rose fragrance Jardin de Vie-Rose.
This beautiful rose scent is allowed to stay in my collection - maybe I should quickly grab another bottle - the fragrance contains Geraniol according to the packaging - who knows how long it will still be available with the current reformulation wave.

Unsweet Roses for Rose Fans

DKNY is usually a brand I don't quite warm up to. The scents smell too synthetic to me overall. Either plastic-sweet or cleaning product-fresh. The Pure line appeals to me the most.

I picked up A Drop of Rose because it was on sale and I was really excited to finally find a fragrance that smells like that Weleda rose body lotion I had as a child.

We don't even need to talk about the fact that there are more high-quality and interesting rose fragrances out there. Aside from a pleasant and consistently unsweet rose scent, not much happens here. I don't perceive any freesia at all. Just a subtle hint of lotus and orchid. And the inevitable sandalwood that just goes so well with roses.
If someone is looking for an exciting and multi-layered fragrance, they certainly won't be happy here. It's probably just meant for rose fans who will get their money's worth.

I can also confirm that A Drop of Rose has a calming effect. Probably because the scent is very clear and straightforward on one hand and not sweet at all on the other. Still, it doesn't come across as cold (that’s hardly possible with sandalwood in it), just very ladylike. However, since it is quite gentle, it can certainly also be worn by those under 20. Suitable for almost any occasion. Rose scents usually have something elegant about them. If a woman is the type for that, it works both in the office and when going out.

I also enjoy wearing A Drop of Rose in the summer. It shouldn't be warmer than 35 degrees, but since it’s not too sweet and generally quite light, you don't have to worry about it becoming stuffy.

The longevity is also okay. 6 hours is easily achievable. The scent is consistently noticeable but without being overwhelming.

Here, DKNY has really done something nice. The other Drops are noted and also worth a test.

Sea of Roses

A Drop of Rose? No, it is the vast rose plantation in Turkey. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the roses are gently swaying in the warm wind, everywhere is blooming and fragrant. A beautiful idea to walk through the fields there...

I love roses and their scent, but in the garden, not as a perfume. Here it is simply too much, just rose, rose, nothing but rose. Somehow I find the scent to be old-fashioned, it lacks that certain something that makes it modern. Rose scent lovers should not be discouraged by my comment and should test it, as the longevity is enormous.
