Mediterranean-Style Mint Lemonade
According to the tweet from Oddity Group, who oversaw the campaign for the brand launch, DM introduced the SEINZ line to the market in March 2019, and consequently, I also assume the three perfumes. Classic is part of a series of three fragrances from the SEINZ line, greenish with aromatic and musky touches when writing these lines. In the series, we find Intense Eau de Toilette which has very much intensity and releases gourmand accords with spicy and smoky overtones. Plus, a “Sport (Eau de Toilette) | SEINZ.” scent that has very little sportiness and releases soapy arrangements with leafy and earthy overtones. A minimal box encloses all three fragrances that open by sliding the inner tube, and on one side shows the olfactory pyramid with two important notes for each phase. The bottles are essential, simple, in opaque glass, and Classic is nothing but white.

Of the three fragrances, Classic is the most controversial. The first time I smelled it, I was not too fond of it right away. Maybe on the paper strip, it does not look like it does on the skin, but the opening caught me unprepared, leaving me uncertain and debated. But I wanted to give it a second chance by trying it on the skin. Again, the opening is challenging, not mass pleasing. But I let it settle with my skin chemistry, and a mysterious and engaging essence took shape.

Classic opens like chilly water splashed on my face in the morning. First, I get an alcohol edge that soon vanishes and reveals a Mediterranean-style mint lemonade tinge served in Egypt’s ahwas. The aroma of this homemade lemonade is denser and frothy, comes with an extra refreshing punch from fresh mint and blends most of the lemons or limes with the skin on. The lemon-mint combo, which offended my sense initially, gets better and better while the fragrance grows.

An aromatic lavender slowly rises while the initial citric and icy lash fades, not too floral and slightly metallic, sharing the scene with a dry and woody scent of cedar. A subdued lemon sits in the back but often intertwines pleasantly with the blue lavender. The perfume does not scream. It is very intimate and wraps me close to the skin. I perceive the moist and clean notes of the musks that make up the base.
When a creamy, musky trail lifts from my warm skin, I realise the scent has reached its goal. It is like a soft, clean, warm caress that comforts me and gives me a sense of peace. Classic is anything but linear and goes through citric, then flowery, and finally musky phases.

In my opinion, Classic is an unconventional fragrance that deserves a chance. It performs adequately and never has annoying peaks, but the opening. It is unique and well organised, lasts several hours even if the projection tapers off quickly, and leaves a fresh and vibrant halo. An all-around fragrance, it can wear in spring, summer, and early fall. It is better to use it for the day, a morning appointment, a brunch, and in your free time, even during the day at work.

I base the review on a 60ml bottle I have owned since September 2022.

It's controversial, anything but linear and goes through citric and minty, then flowery, and finally musky phases. Not crowd-pleasing.
