Tipped fragrance?
Hello everyone,
after reading a lot of good things about this fragrance on the internet and on Parfumo, I decided to buy it blind.
I know Alexandria 2 from testing it and I have a bottle of Gritti BTW here (I like both fragrances very much). So I ordered the bottle and waited in anticipation, but then I was bitterly disappointed. The opening is quite alcoholic and rather musty/oud, which is why I suspect that I have received a fragrance that has already been tipped. For me, the fragrance has nothing to do with the majestic A2 or the creamy, elegant BTW. In the course of the fragrance, it becomes slightly creamier but remains rather woody/musty. I can't detect rose, iris or anything floral at all. It also doesn't really radiate intensely, hence my suspicion that I have received a tipped fragrance. My question to you would be whether anyone perceives this similarly or perhaps has experience with tipped fragrances? I've never had a fragrance tipped before and I'm wondering if this is even possible with a new fragrance. I would be happy if someone could share their experience with me.

I had to search what "gekippten" means, as the English translation "tipped" was a bit strange, haha.
But I think you're talking about that it went bad or something?
I don't know the Gritti one, but Arena really has similarities to A2.
It's not the same.
I think it's more oriental, a bit less woody, a lot brighter and maybe a bit more skanky and spicy, particularly in the opening.
Maybe you should get used to it! :)
It's a wonderful scent and it's less dense than A2, making it perfect for other occasions than A2.
Cheers!
