Finally vacation and I booked us an overnight stay at the Stricker farm guesthouse.
Upon arrival, the shock: double booking of the room! However, we were offered the hayloft of the barn for free until a room would be available again the next morning. So come on, what do we have to lose? We headed to the barn and my son immediately said: It smells like cow sh.... Dad!!! My wife took it in stride, wrinkled her nose briefly, and moved on. I, on the other hand, took a deep breath and found it wonderful. I perceived so much more than just the cow dung! There were orange slices hanging to dry on the beam, and behind the barn, hundreds of irises were blooming. The old wood of the barn smelled in the sunlight, and the plums in the pig trough were also clearly in the air. Marvelous how everything united in my nose.
It's not that bad, I said loudly. YES DAD!!! my son replied.
I tell you, I slept really well, but my son was very happy when we were in the room the next morning. My dear wife tried not to show her relief and went straight to take a shower. I, on the other hand, was really pleased that I even stayed another night in the barn.
A really nice vacation, but unfortunately far too short.
