The Campfires by the River
Vicki-Lin takes you to a place down by the river, you can hear the boats humming and spend the night with her, even though you know she is out of her mind, but that's why you want to stay with her. Over at the harbor, there's still tar on old ships, you sit by the fire, burning fresh wood and shells, and in the thick dark embers, you hear pine needles sizzling, and the salt glows in the coals, it smells of smoke and smoked fish, and the cabbage you found, weeks or hours ago, there on the beach.
And just as you want to say you couldn't give any love, you become one with her soul, and the river gives you the answer, it has always been this way. And you want to travel with her forever and you close your eyes, and you know you can trust her, for she has long touched you with her spirit. - Free after Leonard Cohen

… and you know you can trust her
for she's touched your perfect body with her mind.
Cohen would be pleased with your interpretation!
It would definitely be interesting to have it under my nose.
Simply amazing!!!
Still:
the scent, there's nothing to laugh about,
I think of smoke, fish, and stinky stuff,
he couldn't have done better for me!
Great text, Floyd.
Shells? Nah, let's skip that.
But not blindly, so I can still read it - Classy and beautifully atmospheric...
The scent sounds so adventurous and full of freedom!
Thanks for the inspiration!
