A Sun Sorbet??
Hello you comment-watchers! Welcome to a new fragrance description from me. If you were hoping for a special scent today, something noble, niche, or something like that, you might be a bit disappointed because I will be presenting a very simple fragrance. Namely, Sun Sorbet by Jil Sander, but sometimes simple mainstream fragrances can be quite nice, so stay tuned and watch… or read… hmm… maybe I should really start a YouTube channel or something, mu ha ha ha :DD

Anyway. Sun Sorbet then. Sun sorbet? An ice cream with sun flavor? How can one imagine that? Well, either it’s an ice cream that is as hot as the sun (I don’t care if that’s impossible, just imagine it, but no, once again no one here has any extravagant fantasies, and yes, I can also fantasize about other things than just ladies… tssss…. What people think of me again…!). Or it’s an ice cream that perhaps reminds one of the sun in general, maybe because it smells like sunscreen? I know that many ladies are crazy about sunscreen scents, so why not an ice cream with such a fragrance note? He he…

Well, in any case, the more likely explanation is also the most boring one: It’s a fragrance that simply reminds one of ice cream because it’s summer, and one likes to indulge in this airy, delicious mass. Ice cream is, so to speak, the chocolate of summer!
Good, on paper everything sounds nice and harmless, let’s see how the scent really is!

The Scent:
The fragrance starts off lightly citrusy, but mainly with a creamy-powdery blackcurrant note. The citrus fades away very quickly, and an intense sweetness from the jasmine comes in. In the background, there are probably indeterminate flowers, or something similar, because in the heart note, despite its casual nature, the scent seems a bit muggy to me.
For the time being, that’s about it, as the fragrance is quite simply composed and therefore smells for a while only of jasmine and blackcurrants. What I find a bit difficult is whether the blackcurrants also smell like a sorbet,… well, it could be, it’s definitely fruity, and I think because of the sweetness of the jasmine, it does smell a bit like ice cream.
In the base, it smells as before, the fragrance doesn’t change much anymore. However, the muggy aspect gradually fades away, which is very pleasant. Additionally, the sweetness of the fragrance increases a bit, and everything smells pleasantly powdery-creamy. A fragrance that is unremarkable but still nice.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is rather weak, even if the fragrance should seem more intense later as it becomes muggy. It will only be detectable from close up, and even then only for a shorter time. The longevity isn’t very long either, but it’s not as short as other summer fragrances. I would estimate it to be around three to four hours.

The Bottle:
The bottle is quite simple. It is square, has a red-tinted glass with the typical Jil Sander inscription on it, and is topped with a large white plastic cap. Overall, nothing special, but the color of the bottle is at least quite nice. There might be a slight risk of confusion with Jil Sander Sunrise.

Conclusion:
So… as expected, Sun Sorbet has become a rather simple fragrance that also comes across as quite unremarkable. Of course, none of this is bad, as it does smell quite nice. However, it belongs to those fragrances that you don’t necessarily remember and that might be quickly forgotten, and where you wouldn’t be particularly sad if it were no longer available since there are plenty of alternatives available, even from Jil Sander itself.

I mention this because this fragrance has not been available for some time. You can still occasionally find it with some online retailers, especially on eBay or the Amazon marketplace, but since it is no longer available, it usually costs between 50-100 euros now, and I recommend that you definitely do not pay such prices, as the fragrance is not really worth it, and as mentioned, there are plenty of similar alternatives from Jil Sander. For example, just try out various “Sun” fragrances from Jil Sander (or, if they still exist, the “Pop” fragrances of the same brand, like “Arty Pink” and so on,… by the way, I really liked Coral Pop!), I think there’s something for every taste. And these fragrances are also affordable, so you can easily use them for a summer.

Well, that’s it then. And hey, I managed to describe a pure summer fragrance again without using the term “bikini babes” (this doesn’t count!! :D), he he.

So then, have a nice evening and see you later :)

With Sun Sprinkles on My Face
Admittedly, Sun Sorbet is not a showstopper. But that’s not what it’s supposed to be. Especially since the good price of EUR 27.95 for a generous 100ml creates its own justification for purchase.

Sun Sorbet is simple - both in the bottle and in the scent. Nice!

For me, the sour blackcurrant stands out clearly and dominantly. So it’s a blackcurrant scent. And are there really that many? I doubt it.
Jasmine and sandalwood add a hint of soapiness, just a trace, and vanilla makes it softer and less sour later on. Fortunately, Sun Sorbet surprisingly does not become piercing on me; it’s close, but it retains its lovely, very refreshing, fruity-sour blackcurrant note.

I don’t detect any resemblance to the original Sun. And unlike other summer flankers, such as Eternity Summer 2012, I find Sun Sorbet more successful, as it is unique and not relying on the tried and true, less pleasing, and thus not solely aimed at maximum sales.

I hardly perceive any scent progression. But I don’t expect that from Sun Sorbet either. The longevity is low; Sun Sorbet quickly collapses, but still lingers for a while as a fruity-sour, very invigorating whisper on the skin.

The bottle is also simple and underscores its existence as a pure summer scent. Perfect for the beach bag, nothing can get snagged. Even a fall would likely be well survived by this compact bottle made of hard plastic.

There’s the blackcurrant with its sour aroma, as if the fruits aren’t quite ripe yet. As kids, we always preferred to pick the thick, sweet strawberries, much to our grandmother’s annoyance, instead of nibbling on the blackcurrants.

But at some point during that hot, past summer, with all the naive - still carefree and inexperienced in life - idleness and the great, exclusive childhood luxury of boredom... at some point that summer, the moment came when there were no strawberries left, and we girls lay back on the small path that ran right along the house, lined with blackcurrant bushes. And then we munched on a few particularly red blackcurrant clusters in this tunnel of green and red, with sun sprinkles on our faces, feeling so independent (self-sufficient, my foot), brave and full of tingling energy like our heroes on children’s television.

For me, Sun Sorbet is entirely a pure summer scent. In the heat, its acidity is a cooling refreshment and, despite all the shine and sweating, it associates a bit of purity; at least psychologically. I’m glad that the creators, with Sylvie Fischer, chose a different, refreshing, and unpretentious path.

The bottle is not a real ornament, but functional. Honestly, it’s hidden way back on my shelf - it’s not chic - but I wouldn’t want to miss it. If you don’t compare it to a stylish niche or a brilliant Guerlain, but leave it as it is (simple, functional, unique) and - of course! - like sour scents, it is just as good as it is.

Quickly gone...
...is the scent and so will probably be the content of the bottle, when I look at it here.
I bought it just before it was released. With limited editions, my collector's instinct kicks in. I used it properly for the first time today - summer has kept us waiting long enough, now it's finally here. Yay!

I sprayed it all over myself this morning after showering. Sun Sorbet has little sillage and a short longevity. The previous reviewers have already mentioned this, and I can only confirm it. So, I used it as a body spray and packed it in my handbag for work. By the way, the bottle is made of glass, but I have a big bag... normally, I transfer almost all my fragrances into travel sprays, but this time I didn't do that. The travel spray would be empty by now; I either overdid it, or the liquid is lighter than I even thought... Since I received no comments from my female colleagues (who are usually quite chatty), I’ll assume the latter.
If I were to use the scent eight more times like today, the bottle would be empty (I always feel very proud of myself when I finish something). So, in that sense, the price isn't so cheap...

Anyway. Little longevity, little sillage, little scent development. Sun Sorbet is, unlike the original, not compact at all, but, as the pretty pink bottle suggests, very transparent. Fruity above all, with a hint of blackcurrant, sweet jasmine, and sugar on top. But still fresh and bright. Summery.

If it stays warm a bit longer, I’ll finish it. This summer :)

Supposed Bargain?
I have to say it: Parfumo.de has got me hooked. A long-suppressed and only partially lived addiction is now breaking free. Jil Sanders Sun Sorbet is the fourth fragrance I have acquired within 2 weeks. I thought I had found a real bargain at just under €25. However, I then saw from other forum members that this fragrance apparently never exceeded the €30 mark. Although it is a women's fragrance, I like women's scents ;-)
When I sprayed it on, it brought back memories of my childhood when I "tested" my sister's perfumes and sometimes "improved" them (mixed them or diluted them with water). I find it smells similarly fruity and floral to "Calyx." Of course, I am an amateur and have trouble picking out individual ingredients, but I believe there is a resemblance.
The first impression is citrusy-fruity. The sweetness of the berry and jasmine does not come across as overwhelming or narcotic, but as the previous reviewers noted, it is exceptionally fresh and aromatic. This is what paradise smells like. The scent hardly changes; after 4-6 hours (after all), it becomes a bit warmer but remains aromatic. I don't pick out sandalwood, and vanilla is only faintly present, while jasmine dominates until the end. I also cannot understand why it was released under the label "Jil Sander Sun." It has nothing of the original "Sun." Perhaps because it is a summer fragrance? I think at €25 for 100ml, you can't go wrong if you enjoy light, fresh, and unobtrusive (women's) fragrances.

Sunbathing
As a detractor of the sticky-sweet "Sun" by Jil Sander, I only tested the Sorbet out of boredom and without any expectations. To my great surprise and delight, I found that it is by no means a second brew for summer, but rather a completely new fragrance has been created here.

The word "Sorbet" fits exceptionally well, as it conveys a very vivid idea of the fundamental character of this scent. It is citrusy, but not in a cloyingly sweet way; instead, it comes across as almost watery. The floral heart note also feels subtle and cheerful; I suspect freesia and orchids are behind it, perhaps with a hint of iris. And then: musk, musk, musk with a dash of caramel. Like in "cK be" and other musk fragrances, this does not in the slightest overpower the scent; instead, it is unobtrusive and slightly bitter, providing a contrast to sultry amber.

What is beautiful and characterizes the entire scent is that the freshness never imposes itself in the slightest - this sets it apart refreshingly from aquatic fragrances, in which one sometimes feels like one might suffocate in the violet note. "Sun Sorbet" also seems very well suited for men, as a more understated and ultimately even more elegant variant of "Sun Men."
