Heartfelt statement. Even though I've explored every rose-oud combination out there, both the good and the (really) bad ones, it’s always a pleasure when Zakir gets involved. Due to the recent serious *shipping issues* with larger volumes, I’m taking a step back from the brand for now. It’s given me too many sleepless nights lately. There’s rose-oud, and then there’s rose-oud!
I want to believe that, dear @Seejungfrau. Kalakassi al Ward is a top 3 candidate for me in that genre. Almost everything fits perfectly. I hope they can get it right again. Otherwise, it would be more than a shame…
You've already got the best, twisted Oud rose in use. Kalakassi al Ward is hard to beat. 😊 I understand your decision. With the smaller bottles, you always feel like you can't spray too much. Let's hope Zakir finds a way to ship 50ml bottles again.
So wonderfully described that it immediately goes on my must-try list. I haven't really connected with Rose Oud until now, but I'm open to good things!
It is what it is! 💓
This fine fragrance evokes a beautiful poetic statement in you ❣
The full rose glows so pure,
contained within itself.
In scent is her mood,
in light her spirit cast.

True story: I would like a tomato mozzarella pizza without the tomato. 😅 Okay, you get rose oud without oud and rose, with extra mushrooms, plus Zibi and dirt. 😁
Tea rose in the first second. Oud is immediately present: dark, woody, leathery, animalistic, resinous.
Wood varnish: dry, earthy mulch. [Could be mushroom, but it's rather vague.] The earth smells a bit like loosened humus.
It gradually turns dark brown, yet the rose remains dominant - pastel colors - juicy fresh.
I perceive iris or musk more subtly.
The rose shifts between pink and velvet red. It blooms occasionally in a sweet liqueur-like, honeyed way.
It's not something I've never smelled before, but Soil of Eden has a somewhat homogeneously woven sandalwood creaminess, floral/warm skin - I'm quite taken with it.
Thank you @Seejungfrau 🙌 I'll take a look in the next few days when I wear it again - hopefully, I'll find the right words... But for now, it's off to the night shift... 👨⚕️
Me: It's Mushroom!
Escape: It is what it is.

I'm even more glad that as a "fragrance newbie," I inspired you to make the purchase. 😁
Your first encounter with **very good** rose oud was a hit. So your nose is tuned! 😄
Zakir did a great job here.

A wonderful life journey of the rose along with its death.
A very fine release!
