Rose Oil on Wood
Right from the start: I’m not really a fan of rose. But, BUT here it is so beautifully incorporated...!
In the opening, the fragrance smells as if someone has drizzled rose oil on fresh wood.
The scent remains very woody afterwards, but a deeper sweetness joins in. I also get the association of vanilla and tobacco (as has already been mentioned in a statement here).
I can also understand why the fragrance is categorized as rather masculine; I do get a very slight "men's perfume" note, but that completely fades away for me after the first 20 minutes.
Oh, and anyone expecting dry woodiness like Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette or Hero Eau de Parfum is absolutely mistaken. The wood here is so warm and soft...
The only downside is the longevity. The fragrance doesn’t have a strong sillage (which I personally don’t view negatively), but after about 3 hours, I have to really press my nose into my skin to catch a whiff of the scent.
