Surprise!

Now I am writing a review, despite years of rejecting the idea. That the Phantom Paragon would be the one to change my mind seemed unthinkable until today, but sometimes it happens that you choose something you never expected. First of all: I don’t like storytelling reviews, so I will try to express myself differently, although some moments will probably still contain something like memories or personal notes.

I love Pegasus! It is probably, alongside Chanel Egoiste, a kind of signature scent for me, even though I like to vary. And the Phantom Paragon makes no secret of imitating Pegasus. I like unusual scents and fragrances that I don't smell everywhere. Like many, I try to express moods or create atmospheres with them. At first, the Phantom Paragon seemed strange to me, as it gave me the familiar Pegasus vibes, but it was veiled with a leather accord that I did not expect.

At the beginning, it opens with that very leather, which is not listed in the pyramid at all. The leather is rather light, almost a bit piercing, and reminds me of Godolphin, just a little less soft. Once this settles down, which happens for me after a few minutes, Pegasus clearly emerges.

Once Phantom Paragon and I are familiar with each other, something exciting happens: the almost vanished leather accord reappears now and then and transforms with each passing minute into a vanilla-lavender-like mélange that I do not know. It becomes heavier, not airy at all, and above all warm. The metallic note of Pegasus is virtually non-existent, although I can sense it in the dense medley of this fantastic scent.

The base becomes creamy, very creamy indeed, almost like a gentle second skin that brings me many compliments. I smell vanilla and almond, which is surprising, as I would have expected the almond much earlier.

Overall, I perceive the Phantom Paragon less as an exact clone, but rather as creative inspiration. I particularly like the transformation of the leather accord, which, contrary to my initial impressions, gives exactly what I wish for. The scent fits perfectly into my everyday life (I wear suits, both professionally and privately, because I like it), regardless of the season, and I am always impressed by how creatively the progression unfolds for me. It does not replace Pegasus but rather expands my small collection.

I am not concerned about projection; I think it is moderate with a few sprays. The longevity is great; I smell it all day long.

Additionally, I must say that I am amazed by the quality of such a reasonably priced perfume. I no longer want to miss the Phantom Paragon and use it precisely when I do not impose a daily plan on myself and just want to be surprised. For that, it is a great companion!
