I need a scientist for this dilemma!

My body is weird regarding the applications of fragrances. It has become a scientific issue with me.

I used to spray my left wrist once, and then lightly rub my arms together and then over the top of my hair. I began noticing that when I did that, the scent on my right arm died faster than on my left (first-sprayed) arm. So, I now spritz my left arm once and then my right arm once, and then run both arms over the top of my hair.

Guess what?! You'll never guess, so I'll just tell you: The scent on my right arm STILL dies faster than the left arm!!! Like, by HOURS!!! It is so weird, and it is sort of creeping me out. How can the chemistry on the two sides of my body be that different?!

Does this happen to you? Why do you think that is? I look forward to any comments about this issue. For now, my only solution is to reapply to my right arm. Any other solutions?

As a side note, scents linger all day in my hair, and sometimes even after a shampoo. It's the one spot that's safe, and I NEVER spray a new perfume on my hair in case I don't like it!

Hi and thank you for your reply! Yes, wrists get rubbed in various ways, so as you said, top of the arms seem to be a good point, also it's closer to one's nose to catch wafts, unless one tends to gesture wildly with the hands often. My lotions are scented too, but complementary/similar ones might do as well, in means of 'layering'? I'd have to look at the chemist's for scent-free ones, they tend to be expensive though...no idea why all the cremes have to be coloured+scented (even face creams.)

Hi! Thanks, Anessa! I actually have begun applying the fragrance to the TOP of my arm, and not my wrist. Seems to help with longevity. I have thought about moisture, but my lotions are not unscented, so they would screw up the perfume. The only matching lotion I have for a a perfume is Olympea.
Thank you for weighing in--I appreciate you!

Hi, I read several people saying scents smell differently depending on the body half applied. In my case, the right arm/wrist holds the top notes longer, overall it smells 'softer', while on the left which is warmer than right, I get the base notes stressed, so left side is more 'tricky-picky'. I suppose it comes from different skin ph and heat of the body halves, they surely have different reactions and even sizes in my case. Might moistening help? My hair doesn't keep any scent - lucky you!
