Why do you polarize so?
My first comment here:

As someone born in the early 70s, I was lucky to grow up in the 80s and thus enjoyed all those wonderful 80s power fragrances that are also somewhat hyped here. However, for the last 15 years, I have been completely desperate, as the incredible flood of new perfume releases has left me bewildered while rummaging through perfume stores. Really good ones have rarely come out of it. So out of desperation, I turned back to the good old scents, especially those that had passed me by.

Kouros Part 1:
In addition to Kouros, my father owned some fragrances in the late 80s that are now viewed nostalgically, such as Davidoff, Trussardi Uomo, or Jazz by YSL. A scent like Kouros was nothing special in the 80s, so I have hardly any memories of this fragrance - neither negative nor positive.

Kouros Part 2:
Due to my desperation to find good scents, I eventually stumbled upon Parfumo and finally back to Kouros. So a test had to happen in 2013. This was conveniently at the airport duty-free. So I pulled out a test strip and applied the controversial stuff.
But what was that? Zero point zero olfactory memory, and that surprised me quite a bit. Until now, I have always been able to jog my memory regarding many experiences when "re-smelling" old fragrances. But here? Nothing - and what I smelled on the test strip was simply disgusting, soapy, and bulky. Checked off and tested and bought something else.

Kouros Part 3:
But somehow both the scent and my test in 2013 didn't let me go. There must be more to it. So another test in 2015 - this time directly on the skin. Hmm, either something completely different was in the airport test bottle, or the scent develops quite differently on the skin than on paper, because what I smelled now was simply heavenly, spicy, different, and special.

Why do so many Parfumos associate a urinal or toilet block note with it? I can't sniff that out even with goodwill, quite the opposite, this scent draws me in more and more. As I continued, I could even recognize parallels to one of my 80s favorites, Zino Davidoff. I'm not a fragrance disector, but what accompanied me for the next 4-5 hours was simply warm, pleasant, and flattering. Sillage and longevity are good average, so better than most of what comes out as new releases today.

Why does the scent polarize so much? I don't know. The only explanation left to me is the different unfolding on various skin types. Never rely on test strips again and subject every scent to multiple tests, as one should not underestimate the condition of the day.
Kouros, I find you delightful.
