Can Summer Heat Damage My Perfume Collection?

Can Summer Heat Damage My Perfume Collection? 0

Hey everyone,

I have a serious perfume collection of nearly 120 original, authentic, and invoiced bottles. I store them inside a closed, dark wardrobe away from direct sunlight. However, during the summer months, my room temperature often reaches up to 34°C (93°F) during the day.

I'm genuinely worried about whether this heat might harm my perfumes in the long run.

Here are my concerns:

Will the scent composition change or degrade over time?

Can high heat destroy top notes?

Even if they’re stored in the dark, is that temperature still too much?

This collection means a lot to me both emotionally and financially. If there’s anything I can do to better preserve them—I'd truly appreciate your suggestions.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or has expertise on the topic?

Thanks so much in advance 🙏

Hey !! Your concern is absolutely valid and yes , summer heat does harm to our perfumes.

Even though you have them inside a wardrobe the temperature 34 is still really high. I recommend you to get the Air Conditioner going a few times throughout the day to regulate the temperature and keep the bottles a little cool. All of mine are kept in a wardrobe as well and heat here currently revolves around the 40 ish mark, I keep in the AC throughout the day on and off to keep them safe. The temperature of around 20-25 degrees is very safe.

as for other questions , yes scent composition changes due to heat since the tope notes get messed up

I am pretty much in the same spot as you and try to take care of my bottles as much as I can !!

Hope this helps , have a great day !
