Perfumes as an investment

Perfumes & Brands
... I own a handful of discontinued fragrances that are worth a stupid amount of money on the resale market. Stuff like YSL Bleu Electrique and Ultime, some old Muglers, Diors, Armani Codes, Creeds and Tom Fords. Nothing over $1000 a bottle but some are getting close. I have no plans to sell any of them and likely won’t. I can think of many better investments than stinky water, but it is nice to know that I COULD recoup my initial investment (or more) if I ever decided to sell.

... SmellSharpe I like Creed and own over a dozen different Creed fragrances. I have bought all of them thru duty free or discounters and the most I have paid was just over $200USD for a 100ml tester of Aventus. I can’t ever see spending much more than that. Oops… My favourite discounter got Creed Absolu Aventus back in stock and I had to buy a bottle. So just over $300USD is my new high. Doubt I would go higher, but I have said that before (3 weeks ago!).

... My wife only wears one fragrance… "Verveine (Eau de Toilette) | L'Occitane en Provence" . My daughter is 12 and wears mostly "Yara / يارا (Eau de Parfum) | Lattafa" and "Cloud (Eau de Parfum) | Ariana Grande" .

... Kellybean92 One of the things I have come to dislike in general is how some folks view dupes or consider them bad for the fragrance community. Dupes—especially the cheaper alternatives—are typically there for the consumers that cannot afford the original price point of the designer fragrance or get the original for whatever reason. I have also come to find that there's some folks who will snub specific fragrances because of which celebrity made them, which I find quite baffling. I agree with you on dupes. I would go further and say that many people that buy dupes eventually buy the authentic version. I know I did multiple times. I initially bought dupes of Aventus, Ombre Leather, Tuscan Leather, BR540, Silver Mountain Water and more… I now own authentic bottles of all of them.

What fragrance do you all wear to work?

... I work from home but when I go to the office it is to meet executives/customers. I wear a lot of Creed (Aventus, Original Vetiver, GIT, SMW…), Tom Ford (Beau de Jour, Noir, Oud Wood…) and stuff like Prada Carbon, assorted YSL L’Hommes, Terre D’Hermes, etc., etc. Basically nothing too heavy, sharp or bracing.

... DS & Durga. Burning Barbershop is one of the worst fragrances I have ever tried and I haven’t found anything else in their lineup that really spoke to me. They aren’t all bad by any stretch, but nothing jumped out as something I had to buy.

... I change my fragrance almost every day in a given month. I MIGHT wear a fragrance 2-3x in a month, but that is rare. I also have fragrances I consider spring/summer and winter/fall and rotate those the same way. I own around 200 fragrances and want to ensure I wear them all (or as many as possible) every year.
