... I've always had severe allergies which kept me from getting close to perfumes since my nose was so sensitive. Fortunately, I got to start a treatment to alleviate my allergies which was working. I realized it was working when I could wash myself with the Cheirosa body wash without sneezing and I could stand to spray the decant I got of "Sol Cheirosa '62 | Sol de Janeiro" from a Sephora purchase. Then it was the beginning of the end. I still have Cheirosa and I still love it although it's no longer the one I'm wearing the msot or my favorite in my collection. I do keep it 'cause I like wearing it now and then and I fondly look at the bottle thinking it's what started my journey.

Which notes do you avoid?

... I tend to avoid leather forward fragrance, tobacco (the only exception being "Tobacco Honey | Guerlain" ), cypriol, galbanum and alcohol type of fragrances (featuring whisky, rum, absinthe, etc.) I don,t want to smell like the interior of a car, I associate tobacco with the act of smoking which I hate, cypriol and galbanum are too green and medicinal for me and I don't drink so I'm not a fan of beverage type of fragrances.

Sephora Fall Sale 2024

... Today is the last day of the Sephora Fall Sale 2024! I was wondering if anybody got anything (fragrance, scented body wash, candles) from the sale? I got myself "You Doux | Glossier" as I fell in love with a decant of it and it's sufficiently different from my other fragrances to add a full bottle to my collection. My boyfriend got me "Miss Dior Parfum | Dior" as I was always sniffing it when going in a store that had. Couldn't make up my mind about it so he made up his mind about xD He got me the 20ml rollerball version since I wasn't sure whether I wanted a full bottle or not.

How do you rate value for money?

I rate value for money based on retail price since most people do not rely on discounters (by that, I mean people who occasionally use fragrances and aren't necessarily fragrance connaisseurs or hobby people). I've been collecting for 2 years now and I've only recently started looking at discounters out of fear of getting scammed ( I know now some discounters are legit).

Reviews - is it too much to ask to wear the scent properly?

... Two years ago, I wrote an article on Parfumo about writing fragrance reviews here . I've got to say, I'm gonna go with @ Gourmandgrl. They've pretty much summarized my own feelings. I can also usually tell in one go if I'll love a perfume or not. Sometimes, when it oscillates between an 8 or 9, I'll be wearing it again and I'll have made up my mind in less than 3 tries. Sure, some perfumes have way more depth than others (looking at miche fragrances here, mostly), but it doesn't mean I can't quite catch the depth on my first round trying it out. I'm for referencing other fragrances. If I don't know the name of the fragrances that are being referenced, I just pass over it. I DO expect though a nice explanation to the comparison made. Only saying it smells similar to Y fragrance without saying how they found similarities between X and Y is lazy writing. I think a diversity in writing and different styles are what makes reviews so enjoyable. That's why often times people start to follow certain influencers or reviewers because the review format fits what the person is looking for. Some go for long stories and elaborate metaphors, while others prefer being logical and down to earth, while some people mix those two up. I love reading people's different opinions. Everything is so subjective, that I don't rely ONLY on reviews anyways.

... "Armani Privé - Thé Yulong | Giorgio Armani" for that special sophisticated green tea and "Dear Polly (Eau de Parfum) | Vilhelm Parfumerie" for that smoky black tea.

The chocolate fragrance?

... It's unfortunate that Guerlain doesn't ship to your country as ever since I've bought a bottle of "Fève Gourmande | Guerlain", I haven't been able to stop wearing it. If you ever do get the chance to go somewhere where you can buy it... It's one of the best chocolate / cocoa fragrance I've ever smelled. I'd say "Dulce (Eau de Parfum) | By / Rosie Jane" is a nice woody chocolate fragrance although it doesn have a bit of vanilla / ice cream feeling to it. There's also "Choco Musk (Perfume Oil) | Al Rehab" that a cheap, but quite nice chocolate fragrance. I've tried the perfume oil, not the perfume so I can't say for the latter, but I've heard it's a great sweet chocolate and not too sweet.

... "Fall Cashmere | Skylar" is one of the best! Also "Ginger Biscuit | Jo Malone" has a ginger and cinnamon prominent note.

Do you spray different perfumes on different bodyparts?

... I used to spray my perfumes on my chest and forearm (crook of the elbow, forearm, wrist), but now I only wear my perfumes on my arms. I tend to end up blind if they're on my chest and I still want to catch whiffs of 'em during the day. I've never considered spraying different parts for different perfumes though.

Which bodyproducts smell gorgeous to you?

... Fenty Skin Butta Drop Vanilla Dream Whipped Oil Body Cream with Tropical Oils + Butters : smells like a warm buttery vanilla. Perfect for layering with numerous vanilla based perfumes. Moroccanoil Body Souffle Moisturizer : it smells ambery with gently floral notes. A lovely body souffle reminiscent of the hair mist. Ouai St. Barts Gentle Body Wash: one day, there'll be a perfume of this. It's a lovelyyyyyyy dragon fruit and tropical forward body wash. Lovely for summer / spring Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Body Cream : for those who love Cheirosa '62, this body cream is a classic. Tatcha Hinoki Body Milk Lotion: one of my 2023 discoveries. Smells like a spa in the woods. Ultra calming and soothing I also have recently discovered the mango Dove shampoo and conditioner that smell what Fame should have smelled like. Divine creamy mango.

... "Fall Cashmere | Skylar" is locked and loaded for when fall finally hits! I'm so glad to see other people love it :D "Dulce (Eau de Parfum) | By / Rosie Jane" is one of my recent discoveries, love it! "Cheirosa '71 | Sol de Janeiro" smells like white macadamia chocolate chip cookies "Sol Cheirosa '62 | Sol de Janeiro" is marketed for summer and beach, but weirdly I prefer it during colder weather. It's a lovely nutty dessert to me. "Goddess | Burberry" recent release, some say it's basic and although I do agree, it's also a lovely vanilla pudding to me "Vanilla | 28 | Kayali" is a warm smoky vanilla that makes me think of warm vanilla desserts

... I will always be going for my love "Armani Privé - Thé Yulong | Giorgio Armani" . Next in line I've got to try is probably "Wūlóng Chá (Extrait de Parfum) | Nishane" . I also really love "Fall Cashmere | Skylar" as it reminds me of spiced chaï tea. Looking forward to trying "32 Venenum | L'Artisan Parfumeur" because people also say it's a type of spiced chaï tea scent. I'm still searching for other tea perfumes (green tea and black tea prefered). I've tried "Indigo | Nest" but there was a bit too many notes that muddled the tea aspect, I've had "Thé Vert | Yves Rocher" that was too fleeting, I've had "Green Tea (Eau Parfumée) | Elizabeth Arden" that had a fennel note I disliked and I've recently tried "Verte Envolée | Yves Rocher" that had the same problem as the other Yves Rochers.

... Waiting for fall to bring out "Fall Cashmere | Skylar" and "Vanilla | 28 | Kayali" . I also want to test out "Lady Million (Eau de Parfum) | Paco Rabanne" which I think best fits fall vibes. I'll be continuing my search for other fall fragrances too!
