... Archy as a guy whos from the uae nearly all the brands around me are clone brands and that really annoys me because i feel like its just uncreative and blatantly stealing art but playing devil's advocate here i can see how they help people who cant afford these brands. the thing i just cant get through my head is if these brands can replicate such frags why not just make their own creations and stop stealing art? it seems so easy right? and one amazing example of a brand is zakir gafur they are a brand based here in the uae, they are amazing and very original and are starting to gain alot of success making me feel there is no excuse for these brands. what do you guys think? @Archy dear parfumo member. Certain brands you are referring to have premium lines which are much more expensive than their regular fragrances. Examples : Haramain Portfolio line. Armaf/Sterling Oros Pure line. Every bottle I bought from these two lines is not an exact dupe. There is a serious effort in these lines to differentiate from the popular Western fragrance. And I appreciate this! On the whole I think that middle Eastern perfumery rocks and can shine on its own . We have to look for the motivation here which is fast money. Like fast food, fast fashion etc . There is no good quality or artistry here. Only fast sales. But also it is a matter of self respect . If you look at very popular Western fragrances with crazy sales with awe and make mostly dupes you have to change your board, the panel of people who decide what fragrance will be launched. Change attitude of the brand. It is a pity because I appreciate very highly Middle Eastern perfumery

Why put gender on it?

... KillaAmanda Hi guys, I'm Amanda, I'm new here. Out of curiosity, why perfumers or perfume industry have to give label gender? I mean fragrance now can be wore by anyone. @KillaAmanda because marketing changes like a dying dino. It repeats safety patterns. However, leaving designers' fragrances and diving into a more artisan and creative perfumery you will find out they do more unisex scents than scents for gents and scents for ladies. I know women who love wearing men's fragrances. Recently saw a video where Snoopy Dog was smelling Delina PDM and was saying : this is a fine quality perfume, and passed the testing paper strip to his gal!

Seriously now CHANEL?

... JSO60 It is a luxury product from a luxury design house. I am sure it will sell well and Chanel will be pleased with the results. If not, it will get discontinued. The only one's complaining are fragrance enthusiasts who were were hoping for a new fragrance marketed towards men. They're not doing anything different than any other design houses (no one seems to get upset when Jean Paul Gaultier comes out with another Le Male, and there was a lot of excitement with "Sauvage Elixir | Dior"). What I don't understand is why people are getting so bent out of shape over it. If it's too similar to the three earlier fragrances, or too expensive, don't buy it. There's plenty of other fragrances that come out on a daily basis. If you want creativity in your fragrance don't look at the design houses. Their marketing to the lowest common denominator. @JSO60 you are right. If you are looking for artisan you don't go through CHANEL or DIOR sites. I just do not understand the series of flankers with more or less the same parfum. Maybe DIOR and CHANEL customers do!

... Ringtale How about Estée Lauder with their Legacy Collection...I've read the same kind of complaints about the perfumes from this line: double prices for nothing better than former formulations, sometimes even less good.... @Ringtale you are so right!

... DrDre10 I really like the scent but the price is absolutely ridiculous! And the scent profile isn't really anything new. I almost slapped the shit out of the sales associate.... not only because of the price but more bc she looked at me with a straight face when she said it! I almost screamed "B$%ch this ain't MFK!" As if she knew who that was. $160 for the hunnit mL 3 years ago @DrDre10 I bought the scent once in the year 2015. The price was high then also but i got it at a 20% discount. Now this new BC exlusif costs 290$ and it might be richer but more or less smells the same as the edp. Not a bad scent but blue scents are not my cup of tea. It is a bit annoying they insist with BC and not launching a new fragrance for men . The same goes for Sauvage and DIOR . In the meantime YSL has been more adventurous. Didn't get stuck with Y fragrance. They have a new, more recent one.

... Omnipotato At least "Sauvage Elixir | Dior" is a departure away from the base "Sauvage (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" DNA. It seems that "Bleu de Chanel L'Exclusif | Chanel" is following Dior's lead on expensive ultra-high-concentration flankers but kept it extra safe by rehashing the same DNA. @Omnipotato It's kinda crazy these two houses seem still so competitive. I can't understand it

... The steps of CHANEL for a line of flankers addressed to men is the "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Toilette) | Chanel" followed by "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" followed by "Bleu de Chanel Parfum | Chanel" and now this "Bleu de Chanel L'Exclusif | Chanel" which is a repetition of all the previous with some extra resins in the dry down but with the same aquatic, citrusy BLEU DE CHANEL vibe, but it costs doubled the price of its preowners ps I really thought the war between DIOR and CHANEL was over way back rhen but the DIOR house seems also stuck to a line of flankers of "Sauvage (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" . Both houses seem unwilling to risk . Thank God both houses have premium lines of perfumes which they launch but then they didrupt these beauties!

Is TERRONI a ____ fragrance ?
Tzapan
|
Perfume Discussions
... AlanM Hi, My question is simple, do you think that Terroni could be a seductive fragrance or will it stay as a strong aggressive one ? Or It depends of the skin? The occasion? The place? Of course it is a fragrance! A fragrance with losds of resins (birch, amber, benzoin) woods( cedar, vetiver, etc) loads of oak moss and vanilla ,patchouli and musk, don't ask me what musk, I suspect vegan animalic and not the flower of musk, or synthetic musk with mineral notes. If you think the price is fair buy it!
