does a good carrot perfume exist?

... Iris can also smell very "carrot-like". I think iris "Iris Rebelle | Atelier Cologne" actually smells a lot like carrot, even though it doesn't contain any.

... DaisyThorn Brand: Al Wataniah Launch Year: 2002? * Source for year: https://alwataniah.com/wp-cont. .. * 2002 is cited as the year ABC Fragrances was founded. ABC Fragrances may be the parent company or distributor of Al Wataniah. The contact email address for Al Wataniah is
[email protected]
The launch year of the parent company does not count. Many parent companies create their sub-brands gradually, which means that not all sub-brands have been established by the time the parent company is launched. Please note : The primary business of Smith & Wesson is the manufacture of firearms. If Parfumo does not wish to link out to companies in this industry, please let me know, and I will remove the links above. Yes, please do so, we will not link to this kind of company

Brand Details - Adding missing Information
Aspasia0
|
Parfumo Research
... Hello everyone, On Parfumo, we can add additional information to brand pages such as country of origin, launch date, and official website. In this thread, you can point out any missing information. We will update the entries accordingly, provided the information is correct. Please post using the following format: Brand: xx Link to the brand's Parfumo page Website: link Country of origin: xx Source: link Launch date: xx Source: link Done?: (please add a simple “yes” once the update has been made by the team, this helps us keep track. The team will not respond here, so please check for yourself whether your change has been implemented.) You don’t need to fill in all three fields. If you’re only adding one piece of information, you can leave the rest out. For parent Companys, website details can also be added. Please use the same format when posting them. As with all brand details, our rules for credible sources apply. Please follow the instructions you will find in the Knowlenge Base on this topic (under “Revisions” in the article How can I add information on brands, e.g. website or country of origin? ). https://www.parfumo.com/fdb_kn. .. Thank you for your help in making Parfumo's data even more accurate

Best practices for listing perfumer?
Aspasia0
|
Parfumo Research
... I think the questioner is not concerned with brands, but with ‘perfume manufacturer associations’ We don't have such a clear rule, it depends on the case. For example: A brand states: ‘Our perfume was developed by IFF perfumers A and B.’ In this case, the names of the perfumers would suffice, it doesn't matter where they are employed. Example 2: A brand states "Our perfume was developed by IFF with the collaboration of perfumers A and B" Here it is not clear whether perfumers A and B were the only ones involved in the fragrance, or whether other IFF perfumers were involved, so you could enter all three here, i.e. the names of those mentioned plus IFF. In case of doubt, however, it is always better to give the specific names than the company, so you never go wrong.

Oudh Al Anfar & Sub-Brand Clarification
Aspasia0
|
Parfumo Research
... In fact, we just happened to be working on this. For example, Anfar London was created as a separate brand and perfumes were corrected accordingly in the database. What is important is what is written on the packaging and bottle. If it says Anfar London, then Anfar London is also stated as the brand and Oudh Al Anfar Manufacturing L.L.C as the marketer. From now on, this marketer will also be stated for all Anfar perfumes. Oudh Al Anfar is for the perfumes that run under ‘Anfar’ and ‘Anfar 1950’ (the brand does not differentiate here so nether we will do, one just seems to be the older logo than the other), the name was chosen because the company originally called itself that. On their Instagram account, for example, Oudh Al Anfar is still their choosen name. However, we can discuss internally about an addition to the name. However, this does not change the fact that Oudh Al Anfar must be selected in the form, a name change would be made internally, not via correction.

Mods - how can we help speed up the review process?
Aspasia0

Parfumo Research
... There are actually a few things you can do to help the team with their checks. First, of course, read the guidelines thoroughly, especially the points on sources. https://www.parfumo.com/fdb_kn. .. We need evidence in the form of links and screenshots for every piece of relevant information. Not one or the other, not one source like this and another like that, but every source used once as a link and once as a screenshot. The links are for us to check, and the screenshots are for our long-term archiving so that information is still available years from now. Then you can follow this basic principle: the clearer and tidier your suggestion is, the easier and faster it is for us to check. This includes the following: • Tags are not just decoration, they actually help us to quickly identify where to find information – so please use them, they don't hurt, we promise. • Please, please, no sources or information in the discussion area. It's a hassle to have to click back and forth all the time when checking because all the information is spread across both areas. Even if a mod asks you to add something, put it in the sources area! The discussion area is really only for questions, answers, and brief explanations if necessary. All information belongs in the sources area. • Please at least try to find out the release year. I spend half of my check time on social media looking for the YoR. In many cases, it's really not difficult – a glance at social media accounts is often enough, and the keyword search on Facebook can also reveal a lot. No one expects hours of research, but at least a quick check is not too much to ask. • I feel like I spend the other half of my time dealing with requests for the original language. Please, whenever a website can be switched to the original language of the brand, go to that first and then to the English version. Brands make mistakes in their translations, quite often in fact, or they only write notes in one language version, so please ALWAYS indicate the original language; we don't want to copy your mistakes. • And last but not least: most of what we point out applies in general. If we note that screenshots or certain evidence are missing, then these are also required for further suggestions. So if you implement a hint from us, please also implement it yourself in further suggestions and do not make the same mistakes over and over again or only correct them when asked. All of this is not a guarantee that it will be done super fast. We are all volunteers with jobs or studies and our own private lives, and we have more or less free time available for checking. But a suggestion that is neat and well documented can be checked more quickly, e.g. during lunch break ;)

... It also depends somewhat on the original. The more sophisticated and recognisable the original, the less similarity we allow. In the case of very minimalist bottle designs, the similarity can be somewhat greater. After all, Dior and Co. do not have exclusive rights to simple rectangular or cylindrical bottles.

What do you guys do with empty perfume bottles?
Aspasia0
|
Parfumo Community
... I'm more of a pragmatic person, so all my empty bottles go in the recycling bin and that's that. Farewell my friend, start a new life as a water bottle, or a bowl or thermal insulation, whatever 😅 However, there are now several brands that also have refill versions of their perfumes in their ranges: e.g. Mugler, Guerlain, Lancôme, Armani, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Dior ... Basically, almost all popular designer perfumes are now available as refills

Updated guidelines?

Parfumo Research
... It's not about recognising the reference perfume, but about the basic question: can the perfumes be confused? In other words, can it happen that you go to the shop, don't look at the name and think you've bought the original. The Elysia bottles are much taller, have a completely different lid with the flower, both visually and haptically, and the fw logo is also very present. There's actually no real danger of buying FW and thinking it's a real Kayali, so it's ok. The old Tom Ford dupes from Maison alhambra are an example where the similarity and risk of confusion is too great, or the Roja dupes from French Avenue

What flowers are blooming where you live?

... Ceesie There’s a whole field of irisses blooming here! Beautiful blue, yellow and white ones. I took a sniff because I don’t know what the actual flower smells like and it smelled like….. well nothing really 🤣 I've never smelled an iris before, but I'm hardly surprised. What is used in the perfume industry is actually obtained exclusively from the root of the iris. Nothing comes from the blossoms.

... The lilacs are blooming all over our backyard right now, and the smell is just heavenly. A few weeks ago, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. They looked amazing, but as always, didn’t last long. There are still a few tulips and daffodils around, but just the last ones since their time is pretty much over. Our magnolia has already finished blooming too, but it looked great again this year. Next, I’m looking forward to the hydrangea bushes, though they’ll still take a little while.

How to add images of new bottles and different sizes?
Aspasia0
|
Parfumo Research
... Ah, ok, now I see what you mean. Yes, pictures of different bottle sizes can be submitted. New designs can also be submitted. They may then replace the main image, but the older one will not be deleted, but will remain as another image. But don't worry. Since image suggestion runs via mail to the team and not via an upload system, as a user you cannot accidentally overwrite an image

... The new guideline regarding dupes can be found here: https://www.parfumo.com/fdb_kno wledge_base.php?do_search=1&q=d upe That said, not all brands currently on the banned list will be unbanned at the same time. For one, not every brand is on the list because of dupe-related concerns. For another, the expected flood of new submissions would simply overwhelm us. Dupebrands are therefore only assessed one by one and re-evaluated if necessary but not all at once. Regarding Mission Fragrance: the situation remains as previously stated. It is as Ursaw said: The provider is highly questionable, if not outright dubious, so the brand will remain on the banned list.
