What do people wear where you live?

... Mohca SandraParis Mohca Born and raised in Grasse, I now live in Cannes area. I usually smell a lot fragrances in the realm of "Miss Dior (2021) (Eau de Parfum) | Dior" and "Good Girl (Eau de Parfum) | Carolina Herrera", "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian", "Acqua di Giò pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Giorgio Armani", "Sauvage (Eau de Toilette) | Dior". During summer, I smelt many fresh citrusy or aquatic scents that I didn't recognize. Once, I was really not expecting smelling this in the gym, but a man came blessed me by taking the treadmill next to me. I recognized it immediatly, he was wearing "Sand Dance | Stéphane Humbert Lucas". Glorious day. I stayed a bit longer. Also, one time, I was in the grocery store, sunday morning. A man doused himself in "Oud Maracujá | Maison Crivelli". It was a bit unexpected too 😅 In Paris I can still smell "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" and its dupe a lot. Mainly when you take the metro. I smell a lot of very heavy scent with that fake cypriol accord that knocks out my nostrils. I cannot pinpoint a fragrance in particular as they all smell similar to my nose. There is a fragrance or a fragrance DNA that I smell a lot in Paris on women, mostly younger women : a honeyed Orange blossom scent with a heavy vanilla base and something really musky. It feels like a teenager scent. I absolutely hate that scent as it makes me feel nauseous. Do you have any idea what it can be? What i love is when you walk in the posh neighbourhood, you will often come across a middle aged or older woman wearing some of the Legendaires' Guerlain like "L'Heure Bleue (Eau de Parfum) | Guerlain" or "Après L'Ondée (Eau de Toilette) | Guerlain" . It always brings me joy when it happens Immediately thought about "Le Parfum (Eau de Parfum) | Elie Saab", as it is 100% in the realm of honeyed orange blossom scent, or it could be something like "Oriana | Parfums de Marly" or "Love Don't Be Shy (Perfume) | Kilian" ? (edited : could be "Scandal | Jean Paul Gaultier" too) Yesss, it always brings a smile to my face when I recognize a beautiful fragrance on someone ! Mohca thanks for the suggestion. I am ashamed to say I have never smelled any of these but I will try to sample them

... Ponchoo Hello !! I did some research too, never had the chance to try them but in the snow categories I would suggest : - L’eau d’Hiver - Snowy Owl - Le Flocon de Johann-k Let us know if you try one !! ^^ Ponchoo, you are so right about "Le Flocon de Johann K | Isabelle Larignon" . It feels like icy air. So refreshing. It is one of my favourite wears on a hot summer day.

... I hate the toxicity of the fragrance community. And it seems to be getting worse but it just reflects our current society. Reading comments on YT fragrance videos, I am very often surprised at the level of hate there can be at times. I mean it is only "smelly juice". Saying that I have also met some of the nicest persons through my fragrance hobby and certain fragrance groups I am in feel like we are just a bunch of good friends. I have created my Parfumo profile month ago. I only started being active on here recently and it real breath of fresh air. I hate also the flexing part. Some people are just in it to show off and just have no real knowledge in France. Fragrances become more a sign of status and alleged wealth and are not appreciated for the artistry. I see it a lot in the Guerlain community. I hate the narrowed minded of the community at times. If you do not like a popular scent, there is definitely something wrong with your nose. I absolutely hate the fact that fragrances have become mostly about gourmand, beast mode, longevity, sillage and compliments. The other day I was reading the new topics on the French Fragrantica and all the topics were all about vanilla scents, gourmand scents, or fragrance with the loudest sillage. Like the other day in a group, I was explaining to a bunch of guys in their late 20's - early 30's that many people did not like LV scents or that they thought that LV were overpriced. They did not get it and thought I was crazy. They did not get either that even some mature nose did not like Oud. The issue is the probably the lack of "diversity". We tend to join groups where people have similar tastes and we tend to believe our fragrance tastes are a generality. A lot of wolf pack attitude I find.

Female lavender parfum

... For me the best female leaning / unisex lavender scent is "Kiki (Voile d'Extrait) | Vero Profumo" or "Kiki (Extrait de Parfum) | Vero Profumo" ! The Voile d'Extrait is still in production but it is not found everywhere. I saw you were located in Italy. Campomarzio stores sell this brand and I know there are a few other shop Essenza Altro selling it. Kiki is a lavender gourmandy type of scent. I do not like gourmand scent but Kiki has just the right level of sweetness. I am a huge fan of essential oils, I use some daily. Kiki smells like lavender essential oils. I am aware it is above your price bracket unfortunately but believe me it is well worth it. The guys from Wafts from The Loft reviewed a few weeks ago.

Do you ever have the feeling your collection is 'complete'?
SandraParis

... Ringtale I would never have thought this day would come, but since I have "Infusion d'Iris (Eau de Parfum) (2015) | Prada", I really feel as though I found my HG and that my collection is complete. Of course I will still sample now and then, just because I find it interesting to smell- and learn and talk about scents, but I don't think I will ever come across something that I will love as much as this scent. Do you ever have the same feeling after trying or buying a scent? At times, it only ONE fragrance to feel that you have everything and you do not need anything else. It is the quite of fragrance you could wear every single and feel completely content. For me that fragrance is "Féminité du Bois (Eau de Parfum) | Shiseido / 資生堂". I managed to find a bottle at long last a few months ago. Since then, my fragrance spending is inexistent. I am currently decluttering a lot of my collection. Last time I checked I had 150+ fragrances. I've realized that I own a lot of fragrances that I haven't worn in years. Many i like but I am keeping only fragrance that I adore. I enjoy sampling new fragrances but as I cannot stand Amberwood, Akigalawood, Ambroxan, very loud or synthetic smelling scent, well I am very often disappointed when trying new releases. But hey, my collection is sufficient. I do not need more.

... I always try first on skin a few times. You never know how the perfume will perform on skin. I once tried Cuir Beluga on my skin and it ended up smelling like rotten eggs on my skin. Fragrances are way too expensive nowadays to make a purchase mistake. Selling your fragrances takes time and you lose money most of the time when you sell them back.

What's the fragrance that got you into this hobby?

... My very 1st fragrance was "Nu (2001) (Eau de Parfum) | Yves Saint Laurent" early 2000. When the fragrance got discontinued, I lost interested in fragrance altogether. Fast forward two decades : I bought a fragrance for my husband Father's day gift. I got gifted a decant of "Un Jardin sur le Nil (Eau de Toilette) | Hermès" and it was love at first sniff and it started my fragrance addiction
