...Right now I´m watching Downton Abbey and I like it. Before that it was True Blood and that was not really my kind, but not bad enough to stop watching. The Wire, really, really good, still miss some of the characters. Twin Peaks, high recognition factor for me and it been a while, but I would love to watch it again just to see what I think about it now. When I was really young (pre-teen) I cried my eyes out to: Rich man, poor man, Roots and The Hollocaust.

... ZeZe: Just a quick question for those who have decanted .. If an atomizer spray bottle is 5ml, does that mean you can actually fill 5ml of liquid while still leaving enough air in the bottle for the pump spray? Yes, I have measured. But I can only talk for the bottles I have use.

Perfumes for Hippies

...Stereotyping hippies in my mind and comes up with; perfume oils, if the hippie is picky and wants a lot to chose from then I suggest a check around at Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. If the hippie in mind does have a little troubble about deciding and are a little more easy going I suggest to check out the mood lifting (not to serious) offerings at Smell Bent. Hippies that don´t like oils and are a little more high maintanance could go for some of the pleasant all natural perfume brands, taht would be very pleasing fot he save the earth kind of hippie I think. Or maybe the hippie want´s to support small, indie kind perfumers? Show him/her Ava Luxe, Neil Morris, Sonoma Scent Studio, Slumberhouse, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz (there are a lot of other indie brands out there, I just mention a few). If the hippie is more a high end boho chic kind of hippie with a good and balanced budget, I guess Nasomatto have some to offer or even Serge Lutens has that hippiechic aura according to me.

...Finally "Tabac Blond" is on it´s way home. :D And I "accidently" order a bottle of Montale´s "Vanille Absolu" *ooooops*. Next in line should be Farmacia Annunziatas "Ambra Nera" or if I can get it somehow Guerlains "Spiritueuse Double Vanille". But I´m not only high maintanance, a bottle of Tokyo Milk´s Dead Sexy wouldn´t be that wrong either.

Cultural influence on perfume taste

Perfumes & Brands
...Oh, in that case swedish (and scandinavians in general I guess) are more like americans, then south europeans. Everything marketed as clean and fresh is on the perfume toplist here. And not to mention all the different celebrity scents. So, fresh, clean, fruityfloral and with some celebrity name on it, it´s a total success here. :? In Sweden we don´t have much of a perfume tradition as in countries in southern europe, and middle east, india and so on. But, on the other hand swedes are very trendy and I think brands like swedish Byredo is popular among people without an actual perfume interest, but that wants to feel more unique then wearing the average drugstore brand. Comme des Garcons is also a little more known in sweden. I can´t say my american perfumista friends differs so much in taste from my european one´s or south american and so on.

Storing & Organising Your Perfumes

Perfumes & Brands
...I have most of my samples in test tube racks, stored in alphabetical order in small drawers. The bottles I have in rotation I have on top of a bureau, the other one I keep in their boxes on a shelf in my "boudoir". Decants I keep in different wooden boxes with small glasses to make them stand up. Still I manage to have samples all over the place! I never seem to get them organized in the phase they´re coming. :P And what to do with all the boxes??? I love keeping them, cause when I re organize my collection I want to store the fragrances in their boxes and if i swap or sell the perfume is worth more if the box is still in good shape, but I don´t know what to do with them meanwhile? How do you do with the boxes?

... PontNeuf: Rebella: I hope my next buy will be Caron´s Tabac Blond. :) Oh, I always wanted to try this one...is it only available at Caron or is it even out of production ? It seems to be extremely hard to get. I think you can buy it from Les Senteurs.

...I´m rebella. And when I´m not I´m a swedish exception. Exception as in most swedes don´t seem to like fragrance at all, we´re going toward a fragrance free society. How boring is that? I even like a small amount of BO, for sure on the right person, like my grandkids or my husband. Today I have a stuffed nose, and youngest daugther sprayed herself with L de Lolita before school and it was the first time in at least a year I belive it smelled good! My dog (a lovely mutt named Troya) also smells of perfume occationally, but not by intend, but she hang around me all day and sometimes she´s hard to avoid when I´m spraying hefty. :?

Favorite notes

Perfumes & Brands
...Some years ago I thought I had favorite notes as well as notes I didn´t like at all. I still have notes that most of the times works very, very well with my skin chemistry and over all preferences as well as notes that seldom work well at me. But the best thing I know when trying a new fragrance these days is when I find myself attracted to a note (or notes) that I haven´t liked before. I´m sure if done right I can find myself liking most ntes, with few exceptions (metallic notes leaning towards rusty/bloody note is for me like instant anxiety in a bottle and only makes me all sweaty and sick). What usually works great on me: amber, vanilla, patchouli, suede, citrus, tuebrose, iris(orris), immortelle, eucalyptus, musk, labdanum, gaiac, safron, cinnamon, cardamom, heliotrope, honey, lavender, milky notes and a lot of others I don´t recall now. Usually not so good: metallic notes, ozone, berries, galbanum, incense (some at least smells like coke on me), general "green" notes, birchtar (can become like smoked sausages on me)...
