Favorite tea based perfumes ?

... I love tea scents too! It may be basic, but Indigo by Nest is one of my all-time favorites! It doesn't really compare to Thè Rouge , but it has a similar vibe. For unadorned tea with a hint of citrus, Thè Vert from L'Occitane and Moschino Funny! are both great if you want a refreshing, cool-crisp tea. I think all of these lean unisex, but others might have differing opinions.

... You're welcome, @Nocheating ! I hope you find some things you enjoy that also align with your ethics on animal testing. It can be a minefield since different brands define it differently. I know a lot about makeup brands that are CF, but I haven't seen many people on fragrance forums care too awfully much. Good luck!

... Ostara Wearing a cloud of my favorite Chanel "N°19 Poudré | Chanel" tonight Sounds so lovely! No. 19 original and Poudré are gorgeous. I am wearing Prada Candy today. I went to my new neurologist, and to medical appointments I usually chose something that is subtle yet clean.

... If you like woody scents, I believe Maison Louis Marie is CF. They are listed as vegan on Sephora.com, so that usually implies cruelty free as well. Bois de Balincourt and Le Long Fond are both nice. Commodity is also CF, and I can't recommend Moss and Milk enough.

What if your spouse doesn't care for perfumes??

... My husband and I have pretty similar tastes in music and movies, and we are very politically aligned, but he doesn't really care about the smelly stuff too much. He likes a good candle, especially if it is ocean or forest scented, plus he uses scented body washes in the same kinda vein, but he just does NOT wear fragrance himself. If I ask him to put some on if we are going on a date or something he will, and he buys me plenty of nice perfume gifts for bdays and holidays. He supports what I like even if he doesn't exactly get it himself. He really likes the scent of Dark Ride by Xyrena because he was on the hunt for something that smelled like Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. He has a bottle, but he rarely wears it. If I wear a scent, he will give his feedback if asked. But I am one of those people that wears fragrance for themselves, so I don't actually care if he likes it or not 😂

... Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie, and I live in California. I just turned 40, and I use she/her pronouns :D My fragrance journey really started when I got into indie perfumes, but as many of you know--there are so dang many! During the pandemic I got more into traditional/non-oil fragrances, because it turns out I really do prefer a spray to an oil 99.9% of the time. I don't care if something is niche, indie, mainstream, cheap/drugstore, or designer, I am just drawn to fragrances that speak to me. My obsession with beauty led me to fragrance, so makeup is my first and true love, and I view fragrance as an extension of that. If you like colorful or interesting makeup looks, you can find me on Instagram as whimssy.steph. My makeup ethos is "wear whatever makes you happy." Life is too short to avoid doing what you want to do and not expressing yourself. I make art and occasional write things. Creativity is one of the things that gives me life, so you can see why I view makeup and fragrance as artforms as well. I collect vintage science fiction books, have a degree in Literature, and own three pets: two cats and a dog. I also have a husband whom I adore, and we have been married for 21 years. It is nice to meet you all, and I hope that we get to share our passion & knowledge about fragrance.

... I was just looking for Maison Alhambra today since I got Infini Rose in the mail. Do you think it could be because the bottles look much more similar to what they're duping compared to other brands? Alexandria or Oakcha, for example, just use their own bottles for everything and maybe change a label or color for some dupes. Dua does the same, their bottles are consistent and then the label changes based on the scent.

... Lempi My order of Sol de Janeiro 30 ml perfume set just arrived to the @Mitchcraft residence as I was pleasantly surprised to find it from Boots UK for £40 only. The set includes "Cheirosa '40 | Sol de Janeiro", "Cheirosa '59 | Sol de Janeiro", "Cheirosa '62 / Brazilian Crush Cheirosa '62 | Sol de Janeiro", "Cheirosa '68 / Brazilian Crush Cheirosa '68 | Sol de Janeiro" and "Cheirosa '87 / Rio Radiance / Tan Lines | Sol de Janeiro". 😍☀️ Ooh you are gonna smell good all summer long (if it is summer where you live)!! I really love the original Brazilian Crush, and Rio Radiance is lovely too. It smells like a really rich person on a beach vacation.

... Gourmandgrl Whimssysteph Yes, sometime in the last couple of years there was a law passed about ingredients in cosmetics & skincare products limiting certain ingredients. Obviously Guerlain doesn't want to reformulate just to be able to sell in Cali, so it makes sense. I actually support the law overall but it cracks me up how certain legacy products might have gotten caught in the net when it is meant to weed out newer products with "forever chemicals" more than anything else. Ah okay, that makes sense why it was passed - but yes, unfortunate that it's limited some of your access as a result. A fragrance road trip does sound fun, though! 👯♀️🙌 I believe my husband and I are going to either New Orleans or Chicago for the winter holidays this year, so I will definitely be able to pick up a bottle. I hate having to wait, but maybe this way it'll be more special since it is associated with a vacation.

... Kuumba Made has some really cool, interesting musks: Tunisian Musk African Musk Oriental Musk They also have scents like Amber Paste and Myrrh & Sandalwood so that you can customize. As Zavy points out, there are so many different kinds of musks, and often times they react slightly differently on different people. Sometimes you gotta experiment!

... Gourmandgrl @Whimssysteph why won't they ship to California? That's sad 🥲 I hope you'll finally be able to buy the bottle you're pining after, the next time you're out of state! ... Oriane I have no idea what AAVE means either! 😄 Expressions can be odd to the say the least. Over my life time I have frequently used the expression "kill two birds with one stone." I am sure we all know what that means. I find it an horrible expression since I am bird lover, but nonetheless, it has been ingrained in me since childhood, and I have yet to find an expression that means the same thing and is less offensive to me, and still I use it.... Go figure.... AAVE is African American Vernacular English, which is what a lot of "slang" English words get co-opted from. Dictionary.com does have an English slang dictionary , so that might be somewhat more helpful than urbandictionary or something along those lines.

... Smirky I purchase mainly from online discounters. I live in the US and some (or all) might not ship outside of the US and Canada. Chanel is more difficult since they keep tight control on their distribution and I usually have to buy them through the Chanel website. That also applies to European companies who might not have distributors in the US. In that case, I purchase directly from their website, assuming they ship to the US (not all of them do). The online discounters that have been reliable for me are (all followed by ".com"): FragranceNet FragranceX LuckyScent JomaShop Perfume FragranceUSA Maxaroma BeautyTheShop StrawberryNet AuraFragrance Following two are in Canada and have a .ca extension instead of .com FragranceBuy PerfumeOnline Some niche companies can only be purchased through their website. I am in the US, and I have bought a lot from fragrancenet, fragrancex, luckyscent, and have heard good things about maxaroma and jomashop from folks I trust. It really is following your gut instinct when reading reviews or when you hear word-of-mouth. I also buy frequently from Nordstrom, Sephora, etc, so I know how to tell if something is real or fake. I am a gemini so I would not hesitate to raise a big ol' fuss if I thought something was amiss from any of the aforementioned "grey" sites (excluding luckyscent, they are just a niche retailer.) Editing to add that I have bought some things from Amazon's US site as well, but only when I can do returns and/or it is fulfilled by Amazon. Not perfect, but it makes it much less likely that it would be faked.

... Anonym They should ban TikTok. Although I think it’s a symptom, not the cause, of the deterioration of humanity. Ultra-niche, ha ha. That’s a lame one. Hype-r niche would be more appropriate. I guess when niche goes mainstream it isn’t niche any more. Entrepreneur.com said back in 2015 ‘niche markets are so last year’. Apart from ‘juice’, frag, flanker, OG… Flanker is the appropriate term for fragrances that surround (or flank) the main fragrance in the line. Maybe it is just industry-speak being propagated and then used incorrectly, perhaps? Calling Coco Mademoiselle a Coco flanker at this point also seems silly just because Mlle. has superseded the original in terms of notoriety and popularity. In general I think it is a good term, but calling scents that aren't literal flankers "flankers" of other perfumes is also kinda dumb. I do see all the time on *another site* reviews that say "this is basically a flanker of blah blah blah" when that isn't true. (What I am saying is that I mostly agree, but the term has probably been watered down a lot because of fragtok et al.) Mine is probably one that not many people would agree with, but I am sort of tired of "lactonic" being the only adjective used for milky fragrances. I think something could be milky and not necessarily lactonic, like a scent that has a creamy-nutty quality to it rather than just actual cow milk.

... I got three full bottles in 2023: Milk from Commodity, Ruby Orchid from Viktor & Rolf, and Eau Capitale from Diptyque (gifted from hubs). I love all of them, but Eau Capitale edges the other two out by a nose. I usually don't buy or ask for FB unless I really, really love a scent. Anything I am in like with, rather than in love, I will just get a travel spray or something. (2023 scents that were in this category for me were things like Prada Candy and Valentino Donna Born in Roma. Like them a lot but still not sold on FB.)

... Silly answer: Shalimar! Unless I buy from ebay or possibly grey market, you can't get it shipped to California anymore. My husband was planning on buying me a lovely little gift set directly from Guerlain for my birthday, but it was a no go. Even our counters here do not have it. So outside of traveling out of state specifically for her, I might just have to wait until we travel this Christmas to get a bottle. (Isn't it so silly that one of the most famous perfumes in the history of perfume I can't even get?!) Real answer: A big ol' brand new and authentic full bottle of Alien Oud Majestueux for an easy-on-the-wallet price
