Goutal Heure Exquise versus Chanel 19?

... @Ringtale, you're welcome! 😊 Yes, the bitterness is stronger to me in "Heure Exquise | Goutal" than in "N°19 (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel", and the Goutal starts off stronger and darker, with a quite animalic touch. I find Chanel to be a tad creamier, whereas Heure Exquise is more vegetal. I never thought of any of them as being a dry perfume, now that you mention it, maybe No19 is a bit drier because the iris appears to be kind of paper-y, which is not the case for me in Heure Exquise. If you feel that No19 is strict, I guess you will feel the same way about the Goutal. The drydown of Heure Exquise is absolutely beautiful, dispite the persisting bitterness. There is also some sweetness there, I guess there is some vanilla, because I notice the liquid becoming darker as time goes by.

... I own a full bottle of "Heure Exquise | Goutal" and a tiny decant of "N°19 (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" and I just applied them simultaneously for you, so you don’t have to. 😀 Both are older batches (I bought my bottle in 2019, I guess). They are definitely in the same vein and similar enough, so I think it would be redundant to own both. Now to the differences. Knowing the House of Goutal, one would expect Heure Exquise to be a lighter version of No. 19, but surprisingly it’s not. Actually, the Goutal one is heavier on galbanum, which makes it quite bitter, in the best way possible. It beats me why on earth Parfumo doesn’t list the galbanum note for Heure Exquise. I find the iris to be a bit more distinguishable in "N°19 (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" , while the hyacinth (a touch animalic) dominates in "Heure Exquise | Goutal" . The pleasent bitterness of galbanum is still present in the drydown of Heure Exquise, while the leather note bothers me a bit in No 19. Both are beautiful and timeless, equally opulent and vintige-y. I still prefer my Goutal, but I don’t think I’m very objective, considering that Goutal is still my favourite perfume house of them all.

... Fraujulia Honestly, I find smelling real deer musk as unnecessary and undesirable like travelling to an active war zone. This! Actually, travelling to an active war zone would be more desirable. Maybe you could do some good, offer some help instead of supporting cruelty towards animals for the purpose of some effing scented waters.

... As a Romanian, I have zero idea who Ataraxia îs, but it beats me why people seem to be so eager to put up with all this Toskovat-bullshit. We have in Romania all these clean indie houses with beautifully crafted creations like Matca, Luviane, Casa Goa. If you want it more daring, you have Calaj. For a piece of art instead of just a bottle, you can go to Adi Ale Van. But no, everyone seems to go for the clown.

... Hi, @Ringtale! I see you already own one perfume from Carthusia, but, if you haven't already, you should definitely dive deeper into this house. From what you wrote so far on this forum, I'm positive you would love "Fiori di Capri (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" . A bit vintage-y, but really easy to wear and versatile. Fits summer as well as winter. Even more classic are "Carthusia Lady (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" and "Aria di Capri (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" . On the more summery side, I would recommend "Via Camerelle (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" (still a bit vintage-y, but very light and bright and really adorable), "Corallium (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" (after a herbal opening, it settles into the most beautiful marine scent I've ever smelled - neither aquatic, nor salty, just sand and breeze), and "Capri Forget Me Not (Eau de Parfum) | Carthusia" (the most aromatic-vegetal of them all, the fig in here is to die for).

... Hi! 1. "1889 - Moulin Rouge | Histoires de Parfums" - the most sultry and decadent lipsticky iris paired with plum (palinka, actually😁) on a woody patchouli base. 2. "Le Baiser du Dragon (Eau de Parfum) | Cartier" 3. "Cherry Ink | Lorenzo Pazzaglia" L.E. The first two are marketed as for women. I don't agree. Perfectly unisex.

... Hi, you could try "Vintage Radio | Lattafa Pride" . No vanilla or tonka Bean, but sweet palo santo and juicy plum. Creamy, sweet and cozy Really, really cozy. And nothing vintage about it.

Moss/Forest scents?

It doesn't fit perfectly your description (it has some citrusses, not dominant though), but it's categorically the most beatiful woody aromatic scent I've ever smelled: "Nuit Etoilée (Eau de Parfum) | Goutal" . Starry summer night under the pines. If you're lucky, you're gonna hear the crickets. Another beautiful, green aromatic scent is "De Bachmakov | The Different Company" . Springtime in the mountains, melting snow, emerging green. "Encens Flamboyant (Eau de Parfum) | Goutal". This is different. Old little orthodox chapel deep in the fir forest, in the freezing winter. If you want an extreme foresty scent (not necessarily pleasent), you could try "Mossy Soil | JMP Artisan Perfumes" and "Endless Forest | JMP Artisan Perfumes". These are all you are asking for, foresty, mossy, dark green, but are, in my opinion, hard to wear. If you don't mind aromachemicals, "Moss | Commodity" and "Moss+ | Commodity" could be worth a try. They are green for sure. What about patchoulis? Ok, they are not necessarily green, but for me some of them smell like fall in a deciduous forest, with damp soil and dying leaves. My favourites are "Patchouli Nobile (Eau de Parfum) | Nobile 1942" and "Rebel | Antonio Visconti"

In public, I think he'd wear dark, statement fragrances like "Black Afgano (Extrait de Parfum) | Nasomatto" or "Laudano Nero | Tiziana Terenzi" But in private, I'm sure he's into the sickly sweet and gourmand scents, like "Casamorati - Italica | XerJoff" or "Dolce Passione | Pantheon" . All Italian brands, of course. 😄
