Which notes do you avoid?

... I avoid prominent Musk smells and heavy rose fragrances. I also struggle with hyacint, lily and Lily of the valley notes. They tend to be quite overpowering to my nose.

... My most recent full bottle was "Peony & Sandalwood | 4711" . Such a nice freshie, great for the hot summer days. I also got three miniatures not too long ago: "La Petite Robe Noire (2012) (Eau de Parfum) | Guerlain" , "Mon Guerlain (Eau de Parfum) | Guerlain" and "Jimmy Choo (Eau de Parfum) | Jimmy Choo"

New Year's 2025 Perfume Resolutions

... I currently have 18 perfumes. Next year I want to finish at least 3 so that my collection goes back to 15. I also do not want to buy more perfume, I already have everything I need in my current collection. I regularly forget to put perfume on, so I want to get more consistent at wearing perfume.

... This happened to me with "Boudoir (Eau de Parfum) | Vivienne Westwood". Lovely seductive rose scent when I tested it after reading many reviews. Then, I sprayed it on my skin. Suddenly I smelled like an ashtray. The tobacco note worked really weird for my skin.

Celeb fragrances: what are your favs and why?

... I'm from western Europe and I see some celebrity scents in the stores. Most others are available online through amazon or fragrance discounters. Not too long ago I was able to pick up a bottle of "Fantasy (Eau de Parfum) | Britney Spears" at TK Maxx for a small price. I've also seen Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Naomi Campbell and Sarah Jessica Parker's perfumes in stores. In the past I've also come across Rachel Zoe, Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry and Paris Hilton perfumes. There is a nice selection available here. My favorites are Fantasy, Midnight Fantasy and Lady Gaga's Fame back when it just released.

... LouBe Thanks for the thread. I also enjoy finishing a bottle, it gives me a sense of purpose... Last bottle I finished was maybe "Dior Homme Sport (2021) | Dior" (well, I spared a bit in a sample). i still love it but I have other offerings (in travel sprays) in the same vein or will buy something else next summer. My "Encre Noire Sport | Lalique" is almost finished. I bought it second-hand, so it was not a real full bottle. And considering how much my sweetheart likes it... I got a back-up bottle 🥴 Exactly! Sometines Injust get anxious looking at the collection I have and how long it's going to take me to finish them all. Then again I don't want to get rid of any because I like them all! Thankfully my partner enjoys 90% of the perfumes I have so I can always switch to another one of his favorites and he would be none the wiser 😁

... EvitaVilla I (or more exactly my cat) finished accidentally a full bottle of "Diva (Eau de Parfum) | Emanuel Ungaro" last week. Oof, that's unfortunate! Are you buying it again or can you live without it?

What size of bottle do you prefer?

... Jomas Unless it's a light freshie I love to bathe in during summer, I would go for the smallest bottle possible. And I don't consider larger bottles to be less expensive. If 100 ml cost 200 Euro and 50 ml cost 150, I still saved 50 Euro. I will struggle anyway to empty that smaller bottle and it will take years and years. Yes, I feel the same! I only own 15 perfumes, of which only 3 are 100ml bottles. And despite wearing perfume everyday (and reapplying on most days) I still feel like I barely make a dent in my collection. On top of that, my tastes do change over time and I have gotten bored with certain scents before. Buying a 100ml bottle seems like such a waste when I already know that I'll most likely get bored with it. On top of that I like having several options to choose from and with the way I use my perfumes it will probably take me over ten years to finish a big bottle. So I prefer smaller bottles and miniatures

... I searched and couldn't find this thread yet, so I decided to open it. I like posting about my finished perfumes as it makes me feel better about having so many bottles and not being able to use them all as much as I would like. So a finished 'fume feels like a celebration of my love for perfume! What perfume have you finished recently? Was it a full bottle, a decant or perhaps a sample? Would you recommend it to others or not? I finished my "Viva La Juicy (Eau de Parfum) | Juicy Couture" oldie today. It served me well all these years but I do think I've outgrown it a bit. Just a little too sweet for my tastes right now.

What's your top "feel good" mood-lifter fragrance?

... Tea notes tend to calm my nerves when I'm stressed. They just have this relaxing quality to them. Currently in my collection are "White Tea (Eau de Toilette) | Elizabeth Arden" and "Éclat d'Arpège (Eau de Parfum) | Lanvin" for this purpose. Grapefruit notes always manage to lift up my spirits and energize me when I am feeling down. I used to have "Like a Trip to New York | essence" and "Pink Grapefruit / Pamplemousse Rose (Eau de Toilette) | The Body Shop". I used those up long ago and ever since have been looking for an affordable grapefruit scent that lasts longer than those two did.

Which fragrances where your signature scents over the years?

... During my teenage years and early twenties my signature scent was "Loverdose | Diesel". When I was about 24 it switched to "Guilty Intense (Eau de Parfum) | Gucci" which is still one of my signature scents. When I was around 30 I added "L'Instant Magic (Eau de Parfum) | Guerlain" as a second signature scent.

... I really wanted to add another tea fragrance to my collection. I hadn't yet decided whether I wanted another green tea note, or if I was going to go for white tea this time around. But then I came across a 30ml bottle of "White Tea (Eau de Toilette) | Elizabeth Arden" for only 6 euros. It's perfect. A size that I will be able to finish (I'd prefer to not buy 100ml bottles, I'll never finish them!) and so inexpensive! Can't wait until it gets here.
