... You can add "Buio | Meo Fusciuni" to the list. Sweet, earthy carrot skin supported by smoky, leathery notes. Probably the most masculine suggestion, but I daresay the closest one in terms of the actual juicy earthiness of carrot.

... Oh but I have so many... 1) Citrus for sumer, resins for winter. I hate that we collectively decided that's the norm, when most resinous perfumes need heat to function properly. Sure, keep the gourmands away, but something like "Interlude Man | Amouage" smells much better when your skin is all hot and sweaty. 2) Your fragrance doesn't need to macerate, maturate, oxidate, fumigate, calculate or masturbate. No, it won't smell better or last any longer. It's just a mediocre or bad product that you grew used to in order to cope with your purchase. 3) While I agree that perfume is unisex at its heart and you can wear whatever you want, unisex-favored compositions and marketing are killing creativity. Everything is inoffensive, relies on the same base of amberwood, musk, vanilla. It almost feels like a perfumer can't release something that's truly floral or traditionally masculine, in fear of losing out on customers. 4) To follow up on @kittea 's point, I think perfumers should be obliged to provide sources of rare ingredients if they're going to use them and charge a fat premium for them. Yes, I'm talking about everyone listing "oud" when it contains none, or musk derived from an extinct unicorn. I think niche and indie space has gotten too pretentious, lacking quality to back up ridiculous prices.

Ringtale What would be their goal I wonder? 1) Hack an older, inactive account 2) Pump it with copy-pasted reviews, statements, add some wall posts from other hacked accounts 3) Give awards to these reviews with botted accounts 4) Once you finally appear trustworthy, you can start scamming people on souk There’s been an influx of such cases. Parfumo team is doing their best to keep the botters at bay.

... The thing is, a 10 for sillage varies from user to user. What's absolutely cloying for the average person is more of a 7 for me. I think the only 10s I've ever given are "Interlude Man | Amouage", "Oud Cadenza | Maison Crivelli" and "Untamable | Imaginary Authors". My lowest marks are for reformulated perfumes or Tom Ford, e.g. "Oud Wood (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford". So in my mind, it's always a scale of Oud Wood to Oud Cadenza lol.

... @Edelwolf Hey Mark, I recommend "Dahn Al Oudh Qadeem / دهن العود قديم | Ajmal" mainly obtainable through ebay. Only pungent (sharp?) notes, no sweetness. Feels industrial, or race track related to me!

Is it true: Marijuana, pine, sharp grapefruit, musks? Thanks again! Sharp yes, sour grapefruit, strong synthetic musk. Marijuana not really, it's a spicy herb or even chilli pepper. Also earthy, smoky (birch tar). It's the dirtiest citrus I've tried and the sourness lasts forever.

... @Edelwolf I basically just got lucky buying a random tester from a discounter. But anything from before 2022 should be good. When it comes to Sultan, it opens pungent but dries down to a warmer, sweeter scent. "Risvelium | Orto Parisi" is a different level, pain all the way through. Much dirtier and earthier than Sultan. Also, keep in mind "Interlude Man | Amouage" is sweet, just very punchy and smoky at the same time.

... @Edelwolf "Interlude Man | Amouage" is spicier, more herbal, punchier. Try to get an older batch if you can. They lowered oregano sharpness over the years. I have a plain gold non-magnetic cap tester from 2015 and it literally makes me cough as I spray it.

... Pariripa I’m seriously surprised that Sorcinelli wasn’t mentioned, absolute gorgeous, no B.S. You’re right, I only got to test Sorcinelli recently. "LAVS | Filippo Sorcinelli" is basically a cornerstone of the genre. "_Quando_rapita_in_estasi_ | Filippo Sorcinelli" and "Incenso Notturno | Lorenzo Pazzaglia" are also nice. One caveat about Italian incense - rather fleeting in terms of longevity.

"Rien Intense Incense | Etat Libre d'Orange" Cumin and citric, metallic incense. "Berlin | Miguel Matos" Similar cumin and incense, but more dense and salty. "Terror & Magnificence | Beaufort" & "Bull's Blood (2023) | Imaginary Authors" Metallic, medicinal, rubbery and leathery. "She Came To Stay | Timothy Han Edition Perfumes" Herbal, sour, musty vetiver & patchouli. "Rhinoceros (2020) | Zoologist" & "Tabac Libre | Angelos Créations Olfactives" Small differences, tobacco with little to no sweetness. "Aoud Cuir d'Arabie | Montale" A car mechanic's signature scent. Engine oil, medicinal, smoky. "Cuoium | Orto Parisi" Also oily leather, but with more sweetness to it. "Tyrannosaurus Rex | Zoologist" Herbal, smoky, rubbery. Ungodly amount of cade oil in the drydown. "Danse Lascive | Angelos Créations Olfactives" Ashy, earthy, metallic, rubbery leather.

... I only see sweet fragrances in this thread. I went down that rabbit hole and ended up craving some pungent, manly tobacco. "Rhinoceros (2020) | Zoologist" "Tabac Libre | Angelos Créations Olfactives" "Unutamam | Nishane" To add something complex to the sweet line-up, "Boundless | Amouage" is worth a try.

Interlude Black Iris and Silver Oud recent batches

... Unfortunately, Amouage have been on a massive reformulation spree. G batch is more reliable than H batch when it comes to performance and honoring the perfumer's vision. It's possible the tester has been sitting at the boutique for months. Black Iris and Silver Oud come at 25% and 20% oil concentration respectively, so they only get better with age.
