... Smirky @Edelwolf well that is an interesting discovery on your part. Looking here and at Fragrantica, it's consistently rated as similar to "Hacivat | Nishane". Have you tried Hacivat? If so, how would you compare the two? Was wondering: is there a legit market place here or elsewhere that you could recommend for buying niche perfumes that are resold? I'm interested in another bottle of hyrax zoologist and can very easily imagine that many who blind bought it would like to resell... Immediately, lol π Well, not many appreciate a true perfume. Any ideas? Thank You SIR π, in advance, hoping to hear back from you...

... Wusubi @Edelwolf Hey Mark, I recommend "Dahn Al Oudh Qadeem / Ψ―ΩΩ Ψ§ΩΨΉΩΨ― ΩΨ―ΩΩ | Ajmal" mainly obtainable through ebay. Only pungent (sharp?) notes, no sweetness. Feels industrial, or race track related to me! Howdy Sir,I pm'd you a week ago, re the olifant. Maybe you didn't see it, but obviously you're not obliged to buy it unless you really want to. I mean I know you offered it but hey. Only if you like. ππͺπ»πͺπ»βπ»

If so, how would you compare the two? Nosir, unfortunately not. But seeing how havicat is somewhat o f an aventus dupe? Or very similar? I'd doubt it. I hear this comparison of Hawas Black to aventus - I personally don't see that at all. Example pineapple is listed, I don't get that. I get citrus in the top, very sharp after a few moments. The super sharp pungent smoke in the middle is quite different as well. 'It's SHARP. It's pungent. Its awesome. It's Hawas Black.' (my marketing motto π ) The drydown is super masculine patchouli, no chocolate bullshit here. I mean that's what I get on my skin, to my nose. You know how it is... π On this one I'd kinda recommend a blind buy, since it's rather reasonably priced. Some people might call it synthetic, not me. Not that I'd care, either. I don't believe you could call it low quality on any level. I mean it evolves. 3 very distinct stages from top to mid to base. It's strong no doubt and it lasts extremely long. You might think it's gone but that's olfactory fatigue, it has that similarity to aventus/CDNIM. It's airy, in that way. A shower, a sauna and a day later you suddenly get that faint patchouli again, lol π To me, it's literally shot straight to Numero Uno, displacing my long term number one, Aoud Musk. Call Aoud Musk number 1b now.... π But I rarely use it, find it too special for that. Hawas Black on the other hand I use virtually daily. Very few days that I didn't use it since I got it. Halfway through the 1st bottle in... 4 weeks? 6? Not long, lol π

... Alright, perfume snobs are gonna hate me for this but they can go and do one. π I FOUND THE GOAT!!!! And luckily for me πΊit's not even expensive. "Hawas Black / ΩΩΨ³ | Rasasi / Ψ§ΩΨ±Ψ΅Ψ§Ψ΅Ω" HAWAS BLACK is the name. SHARP citrus SHARP, pungent smoke MASCULINE patchouli drydown. Super strong, lasts super long. Everything a manly 'after shave' should have. I'm halfway through my 1st bottle, have 4 backups. Because.. Now it's probably only a question of WHEN it'll be discontinued. It's simply too good for the bubblegum, dripping with vanilla beta bitches. π

... Wusubi Edelwolf Howdy Sir avd thank you so much for the reply! π Heeheehe... pain... Now that, I'm not sure what to make of. Would you call it terrible? Risvelium? And is it really sharp? Many say so. Is it true: Marijuana, pine, sharp grapefruit, musks? Thanks again! Sharp yes, sour grapefruit, strong synthetic musk. Marijuana not really, it's a spicy herb or even chilli pepper. Also earthy, smoky (birch tar). It's the dirtiest citrus I've tried and the sourness lasts forever. Thank you kindly Sir, decided to risk it, gotta live dangerously now and again, heeheeheee... NoseParis is a website that has reasonable pricing and shipping within Europe, they seem better than getting it from orto parisi directly. Still testing that silver oud... It IS rather good, already kinda nostalgic. A first class perfume, and I am contemplating it, maybe. Pricey, but 100ml of that Juice will last as you really don't need many sprays... Thanks for the tip anyways and as always: I promise I won't blame you if I don't like my blind buy of risvelium, lol π Bu your nose/skin chemistry seems at least similar to mine, so I appreciate your opinion. Thanks again, Mark PS that animalic French house... Marlou. NOT my style, as much as I appreciate animalics. Ambilux seems totally void of sharpness, just a stale urinous kind of thing, but who wants to smell like a tramps pants that have been peed into like 2x weeks ago and never washed...

... Wusubi @Edelwolf I basically just got lucky buying a random tester from a discounter. But anything from before 2022 should be good. When it comes to Sultan, it opens pungent but dries down to a warmer, sweeter scent. "Risvelium | Orto Parisi" is a different level, pain all the way through. Much dirtier and earthier than Sultan. Also, keep in mind "Interlude Man | Amouage" is sweet, just very punchy and smoky at the same time. Howdy Sir avd thank you so much for the reply! π Heeheehe... pain... Now that, I'm not sure what to make of. Would you call it terrible? Risvelium? And is it really sharp? Many say so. Is it true: Marijuana, pine, sharp grapefruit, musks? Thanks again!

... Wusubi @Edelwolf "Interlude Man | Amouage" is spicier, more herbal, punchier. Try to get an older batch if you can. They lowered oregano sharpness over the years. I have a plain gold non-magnetic cap tester from 2015 and it literally makes me cough as I spray it. Heeheeheee that sounds awesome! π Only where to get such a thing.. I'm not into vintage hunting and such.. But Thank you so much for the reply! π Could you please describe Sultan Vetiver in more detail? To your nose it's sharp, pungent, strong? Not soft and smooth or sweet? Aromatic and masculine? I'm deciding between risvelium and sultan vetiver, leaning risvelium. Have you smelled that one?

... Pariripa Wusubi "Interlude Man | Amouage" Herbal/smoky "Overture Man | Amouage" Boozy/sweaty "Opus VII - Reckless Leather | Amouage" Spicy as hell "Opus XIII - Silver Oud | Amouage" Barnyard/smoky "Opus XV - King Blue | Amouage" Barnyard/fruity "Luxor | XerJoff" Barnyard/honey "Beach Hut Man | Amouage" Mega sharp greenery "Sultan Vetiver | Nishane" The sharpest vetiver "Unutamam | Nishane" Spicy/animalic "Afrika-Olifant | Nishane" Leather/animalic Love this collection, literally all you wrote, okay havenβt tried the Xerjoff @Wusubi do you own both interlude and interlude black iris? I'm wondring which one is sharper and which one is sweeter. I own a FB of black iris atm and it's a most impressive perfume, though somewhat powdery sweet in the base.

... Chrysoptera "Hora de la Verdad Sombra | SenyokΓ΄" Very sharp and animalic. It conjures a bullfight. Sharp peppery saffron pierces like a shot of adrenaline. Then notes of blood, fur, barnyard oud, and piss. Then dusty leather, smoke, and finally nothing but dark warm animal. "Hora de la Verdad | SenyokΓ΄" This one opens in a similar way with sharp saffron and geranium which continue into the drydown with salty ambergris and powdery musk. Is there sharp ammonia in the urinous notes? Because it can also be a stale smell of urine, which is frankly boring and nobody wants to smell like a tramp with incontinence... I guess. Which brings me to ambilux. Marlou. Ambilux. @Smirky what is your verdict? I suppose you got those samples by now? I'm impressed with the power and longevity, the slightest dab on skin is STRONG and last into the next day. But it's stale. No sharpness, and I mean zero. So it's a no for me, unfortunately. @Wusubi the Opus 8 silver oud... is nice. Too nice. Not really animalic at all to my nose, not sharp. It's nice, kind, pleasant and in that way mainstream to me. It's a no. Very impressive longevity, but. No sharpness. I get a citrus - like tingle that stays through the drydown but I'd call that balanced, not heavy in any direction. Not meaning to be patronizing but I'd like to try and explain this one more time: If a perfume has amber, even vanilla, does that mean it's sweet? Even gourmand? No. Only IF those notes basically overpower the others. Stand out. Are, in a way, OUT OF BALANCE in relation to the other notes. THEN you can call it sweet. Same for sharpness. I know I might be a 'difficult customer' here, and I'm not trying to be. Plus I'm too aware that the type of thing I'm describing re sharp Perfumes is exceedingly hard to find these days. But it does absolutely exist. How do I know? Well, I own several of them. That's how. But thank you for trying! π πͺπ» πͺπ» βπ»

... Smirky Have you tried "Equipage (Eau de Toilette) | Hermès" ? Also, if you liked Antaeus, try "Freefall - Etruscan Water | Francesca Bianchi" . It's stronger and more animalic than Antaeus. For gasoline, there's also "Gasoleather | Lorenzo Pazzaglia" and "Nuvolari | Rubini". Actually, Nuvolari is supposed to have gasoline and asphalt. Have not tried either of these. Etruscan water.... I've been interested in that ... Though chypre is not normally my thing, often too powdery and kinda feminine... Is it like diaglief? Because I don't like that one at all...

It's JUST sharp enough for me to like it, it has that juicy bite to it. Actually all the way through the drydown. After the opening, which is somewhat sweet, I get smoky, ashy, peppery spicy masculine. Its not so super strong after 8, 9 hours but hey, what can you expect. As a skin scent it does last about 24 hours I'd say, the nose gets a bit used to it, for others it might appear stronger. Nothing all that animalic but hey. It's Purdy dang good. I like it. As far as memory serves me right, it reminds me somewhat of jacomo jacomo, that ashy quality Γ guess... π I think I tried equipage, wasn't so impressed, unfortunately.

... @Wusubi so I got 2 samples of amouage silver oud. Interesting, not bad but not all that sharp at all? Rather... a lil boring? Some quite sweet amber underneath it all, covered and balanced out by the aromatics... So far, I'd say interlude is better, stronger, more interesting than this tame scent. Do amouage reformulate? That might explain both this one and beach hut. Re beach hut man. I'd recommend you take a sniff of this one: "Armaf Niche - Black Onyx | Armaf" It's everything beach hut always wanted to be, once it grows up. π Not sure if it's a dupe, but it sure is cheap. Some say clive X, maybe, don't exactly remember how that smells like... Definitely not rive gauche though. VERY Green and aromatic, strong, masculine, old school, awesome. Thank you very noice. ππͺπ»πͺπ»βπ» Update: the silver oud gets more smoky/ashy in the drydown, so it's improving... π πͺπ»

... Wusubi "Beach Hut Man | Amouage" is the sharpest, most dense green I know, none of that light, airy bs. Bitter/spicy ivy is a lot more prominent than mint. And moss is always sharp/masculine. Not to mention galbanum, that note alone is sharper than a thousand citrus fragrances. Howdy Sir π 2nd wearing of my beach hut sample. Uuuuunfortunately, I get nothing sharp here. I get resinous/conifer/green, mild sweetness, relatively warm and soft. I get a tad of the ivy bitterness. Also, in spite of not being listed, I get a non sweet sort of cinnamon, which I really don't like in fragrances (cinnamon in general). Impressive longevity though. You know acetone? When they accuse some Montale frags for example of smelling like nail polish remover in the opening. Now THAT'S sharp... π Maybe it's my bad, maybe I should have said 'SUPER SHARP' or VERY sharp, something like that. This concept seems to be hard to communicate in the frag world... Or is it that my nose is that different? And/or my skin chemistry... Confusing, frustrating. Hm. You know duro? Aoud Musk Montale? They're quite sharp to me. Oud isphahan dior is sharp citric rose, perhaps the oud plays into that as well. Unutama ia somewhat sharp. Afghano a lil woody sharp. Hyrax is sharp. Intense incense is a relatively sharp incense. Vintage Antaeus is sharp and aromatic AF. Hoibigaunt Duke de Vervins is sharp green. Bergamas is sharp. If you smelled any of those then you'll probably know what I mean. Iconic Oudh lataffa (no dupe of anything I think, stand alone) is QUITE citric sharp, again probably in conjunction with the synthetic oud as in dior oud isphahan.

... Update on Olifant: still an incense scent absent of any and all animalic nuances. Quite linear. What does impress me is its longevity. 2 small sprays last apparently all day. And it's a pleasant enough scent, just nothing at all animalic. I'd recommend contrasting this with for example ambilux from Marlou.fr It's also nothing that I'd describe as 'sharp'. I'm not sure but maybe I didn't explain: To call a scent sharp, or sweet for that matter, it's not enough for that scent to have SOME sharpness in it somewhere, or SOME sweetness. That element should be overweight, out of balance, towards that characteristic, in this case 'sharp'. Piercing? Nostril closing? Astringent? SHARP... Gasolin is sharp (no, NOT Fahrenheit.) Terpentine is sharp. Etc pp. Example of sweetness: say a perfume has a mild base of amber or even vanilla that's somewhat sweet. But it's covered by sharp, aromatic spices, smoke, citruses. Whatever. Can you then call it 'sweet', or even gourmand, just because it has a note in it that's sweet? Of course not. Say you have a lemon meringue pie fragrance that has a sharp lemon opening for 15 seconds. Then it gets gooey sweet and stays that way. I that a sharp fragrance? Of course not. These concepts seem so hard to get for so many, I don't understand it. Terminology. Or is it that noses and skin chemistry are THAT different... I do see the possibility that for some rare individuals, this might be the case. But surely the majority perceives Perfumes approximately the same? ..

... Smirky Interesting take. I'll be in the same boat - yesterday ordered the Marlou sample set too. Don't know how long it will take to get to the US. The Marlou perfumer says something like the scents are supposed to blend with your own natural body smell to create something unique for you. Sounds like wishful thinking to me. hahaha I'll be looking forward to your tee she, especially to see if you perceive them totally different from me... Seems our noses/skin chemistry is quite different Anyways looking forward to see what you think π€
