Perfumes that smell of desert

... Hello! Immortelle as a note gives me desert vibes, scorching sun and dried out bushes. You might like "Sables | Goutal" or "L'Eau des Immortels | Voyages Imaginaires" which are centered around immortelle. I also enjoyed the myrrh in "403 Myrrh Shadow | Bon Parfumeur" if you want to go this route, and the dry date in "Desert Suave | Liquides Imaginaires". Side note, you all make me want to get my nose on Andy Tauer's creations ASAP ! (+1 for "Aziyadé | Parfum d'Empire" and its hot spice market vibes)

Dark Gourmands

... The sort of hybrids you recommend sound interesting ! Nothing similar comes to mind quite frankly. There are a lot of perfumes which take "edible" notes in a dark direction though (cocoa powder, coffee, rhum). I thought of "Little Song | Meo Fusciuni" - coffee's the main note, I don't know if that's enough to place it in the gourmand category (it certainly doesn't belong in the sugar caramel gourmand type category 😅) Then there's... "Dark | Akro" , haven't smelled it yet (I will soon - heard good things about it being a very well done dark chocolate). "Plum in Cognac | Scents of Wood" maybe ? It smells very drinkable to me - while still being unmistakably dark. My suggestions are a bit of a stretch, but that's what came to mind :)

... Hey, sorry for digging up this thread ! There's this discontinued scent called "We love NY - I Love Les Carottes | Honoré des Prés" by Olivia Giacobetti. I'm curious about it, heard good things - but of course it would be harder to try out now 😅

... A little late to the party, but I'll add my 2 cents : - Oriza Legrand's discovery set is really lovely in terms of packaging. The price is alright IMO (25€ / 6 samples of your choice). Interesting fragrances for vintage lovers. - Obvious makes a pretty cheap discovery set. - Same for Essential Parfums. Those last two are interesting if you don't know what you like in general and want to explore popular perfumery notes. I personally prefer EP. - Frapin's discovery set was very cheap I thought, especially considering the price of the full bottles and the fact that most of them pack a punch ( bought from Liquide store online, not sure if other sites carry it for that price).

... "Pistachio | D.S. & Durga" which to me reeked of patchouli, a note I do not love, turned me off the house. Zero pistachio in there for me. I was genuinely surprised when I liked "Coriander (Eau de Parfum) | D.S. & Durga" recently 😅 Recieved "Ex Vetiver | Juliette Has A Gun" and never wanted to smell anything from them after that.

... I agree with a lot of what's been said here (they probably don't hurt the perfume industry, won't buy them myself, don't judge those who do). Another reason I would never buy a 10 dollar dupe is the complete lack of control over potentially harmful components in there, especially when most dupes are advertised as having mind-blowing longevity and projection. Those don't occur by adding more orris butter. The dirt-cheap prices also encourage a frenzy of buying when perfume is already a very polluting industry. It takes me years sometimes to finish a 100ml. My sister in law, the other hand, just blind-bought 1000 ml worth of dupes for 70 euros on sale. My bet is she is never ever going to finish those and will still buy more.

Any Classy iris fragrances ?

... Hello ! For masculine irises I recommend trying the unusual mint / iris combo by Dominique Ropion in "1979 New Wave | Les Bains Guerbois". Lovely iris texture with mint freshness. I feel the take on the iris (sugar-free) is similar in two of his other perfumes that I smelled : "Iris Shot | Olfactive Studio" and "Velvet Iris | Essential Parfums" .

Snow/Icy scent recommendation?

... "Le Flocon de Johann K | Isabelle Larignon" which mimics a snow flake's fluffiness with mimosa, a bit of a strange one "Enlightenment | Christèle Jacquemin" which really had this coolness to it on my skin, cold more than fresh. Probably hard do test, but I found it interesting.

... Hello ! You will probably always smell iris in violet, since their scents have a lot of molecules in common (violet scent is reconstituted in perfumery anyway, you can't extract its smell from the plant for industrial purposes). For a violet with no root, no powder, and so, less iris, maybe you can get your nose on Féérie , by Van Cleef and Arpels ? https://www.parfumo.com/Perfum. .. I know it's discontinued, but it's really reminiscent of violet candy to me and not at all of iris. I heard Violette from Berdoue is a nice cheapish violet that leans in the same direction. ps - sorry, I looked for a while, but I have no idea how to insert perfumes in the message 😅
