... To me you're describing "Solo (Eau de Toilette) | Loewe"; but everyone has different views and preferences when it comes to this kind of thing, so the answer to your question may vary a lot from person to person.

Scent recommendations for Spring?
Ursaw
|
Perfumes by Note, Accord, Genre
... Seconding what swimthefishe already said. I personally make my choices based on specific weather rather than technical seasonality. There is a common association between spring and fresh/aquatic/green/floral scents, but as with everything else in life – there's plenty of nuance to it. I don't know what "spring" looks like where you live, but in my area it goes through many different stages which (imo) work best with different types of perfumes. Early spring can be indistinguishable from "winter" for the first month or so. Whatever worked well for you in winter will continue working well in that kind of weather. Once the temperatures start rising, it becomes extra untrustworthy – with sudden frigid wind bursts despite what looks like a perfect sunny day of budding leaves and first spring flowers. Prime time for flu season, lol. If you manage to keep your sense of smell intact, feel free to try somewhat lighter floral scents. I find that soft musks and powdery florals work great in this weather. Setting the mood for spring while keeping you cozy and warm. Then there's the classic picturesque spring, with mellow sunny weather and everything in bloom. Honestly, it's my favorite season perfume-wise. Warm enough for bright citruses to properly open, but mellow enough for musks, sweet resins and leathers not to smother you. In my personal experience, it's the time where anything goes, as long as you use it in moderation. Have fun, try things out, see what you enjoy ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ Then there's (hopefully!) a rain season. I love wearing juicy wet florals during this time. Become one with the rain! And once that is over – at some point it becomes indistinguishable from what most people would consider "summer". It's great for, well, whatever works for you in the summer. But that's me and my tastes. At the end of the day, I think the only rule of courtesy is not to overspray whatever you're wearing. I know some people who can wear sharp citruses in the dead of winter and heavy gourmands all summer long. If that works for you – that is also a completely fine choice as long as you apply things moderately enough not to choke out the rest of the public space you plan going to ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

... No weekend passes by without a touch of "Encelade | Marc-Antoine Barrois". Every time I decide that next time I should wear something else for a change, and every time my hand reaches for it before I remember that.

... It would help if you could define "soft and sweet" a bit less broadly, or maybe provide examples of fragrances you have already tried and liked the direction of? There are many different ways in which things can be sweet , and many different views of what's considered soft . The gentlest sweet scent I can think of that still has texture to it is "001 Woman (Eau de Parfum) | Loewe". There's a very cozy milky sweetness to it, soft fuzzy musk and a touch of sour sandalwood for balance. Super cute. In the realm of florals, the sweetest one that I enjoy is "Earth | Loewe". Lush violet garden on a summer eve, still wet after a passing light rain. Very vibrant and voluminous. There's "Solo Ella (Eau de Toilette) | Loewe" if you're looking for something that leans slightly closer to a gourmand category. Sweet peony mist with a tangy tropical twist and a soft praline backdrop. Playful, multilayered and satisfying if you have bit of a sweet tooth. But these are my personal preferences, without more data I can't judge how well they will fit your vision. Either way, good luck in your search!

... Spent the morrow testing "Hacivat | Nishane". Was left uninspired. The composition is "hey can I copy your homework" and the execution is nothing to write home about either. Meh. "Kredo | Nishane", on the other hand... I think that one might be a keeper. I don't really understand all the "Oud Wood (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford" comparisons though. If I had to compare it to something, it would be "Ganymede (Eau de Parfum) | Marc-Antoine Barrois". But where Ganymede was fresh, vibrant and wet, this one is soft and dusty – the same 19th century hospital, but long abandoned. Basking in tranquility and last rays of the setting sun ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

... NotAGoodidea It's how the markiting works. 99% of the marketing aorund fragrances can be summarized in "give us your money and you will fuck more". As cringe as it is, this is the public mainstreaim approach to fragrances. Buy this and you will be like "insert random popular US cinema star or whatever". If this is the message of the main actors in the marker what can you expect from the customers? I understand that this is mostly a rhetorical question, but, uh... I not so much expect as hope for a bit more common sense, I suppose. I wish to see our human society as something more than a blind consumerist mass that exists to be marketed at. To be clear, I am not saying that it's wrong to enjoy compliments. It's human to want to be perceived as cool/likable/attractive/etc. It's also fine to genuinely enjoy run-of-the-mill designer perfumery. Edgy niche that smells like bloody rags at a shady dentist office on an alien ship is not for everyone, and that's completely ok. Majority of the general public will enjoy things that are popular with the general public, and will consequently attract more compliments ( statistically speaking, individual results may vary ). Nothing wrong with that. The issue, in my opinion, arises when a person's whole taste and personality is molded around whatever they think will give them the most external validation. A hot take of mine, I suppose – I find that shallow, disingenuous, and consequently unattractive. I understand when, say, teenage boys walk around doused in half a bottle of Sauvage. It's basically the time in their life to learn that things don't actually work the way TV advertisements promised them. But as adults, shouldn't we eventually grow past the endless pursuit of the next cheat code marketers promise will get us laid? Then again, I don't understand the obsession with getting laid in general, so what do I know.

... Giving "Tuberóza (Extrait de Parfum) | Nishane" another go. The first hour does make me want to keep it. It's straightforward and simple, but the edible herbal greenness that accompanies the flowers really makes them pop. Juicy. Makes me salivate a little.

... Testing "Sultan Vetiver | Nishane". The notes are chock-full of things I love, and yet ( or maybe precisely because of the expectation that inevitably comes from that? ) the end result smells like 4/10 to me. My darling vetiver... Damp, rotting away beneath a pile of spicy glue, pungent leather and acrid booze... Welp, I suppose that too is an experience.

... Spent this morning with "Tuberóza (Extrait de Parfum) | Nishane" – a lovable tuberose salad. It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but it is interesting! I might have to wear it again. It's not an immediate "yes", but I do feel an inner nudge to keep it for the time being. The best Nishane out of the 6 I've tried thus far. Spent the evening testing "Guilty Absolu de Parfum pour Homme | Gucci". It's not for me, but it has its praiseworthy moments. A matter of personal taste, like any other, but imo it's much more cozy and balanced compared to "Guilty Elixir de Parfum pour Homme | Gucci". I wouldn't wear it, but it's something I could enjoy on someone else.

... Perhaps an odd choice among so many flashier options, but I adore Alexander Adriaenssen. There was a brief period when I was a teen where I had to accompany my family for their stints at the local art museum, so I spent a long time wandering aimlessly around the towering baroque halls and staring at all manner of paintings. An overwhelming variety of classics; Paul Leroy's absolutely gigantic " Haman and Mordecai" that took up the whole wall by itself – so detailed you could see the individual strands of fabric in the men's clothing... And yet I found myself entranced by a singular little still life of gutted fish. Every time I walked around for hours with vacant eyes, and every time I eventually found myself, entranced, before the fish. There are plenty of photos of his works on Google, and they do get the point across, I guess, but they can't do him even a modicum of justice. You have to see those fish with your own eyes. The glistening juicy meat, the iridescent shine of the scales, the wet eyes staring into your soul... In the moment those damned fish felt more real than I was. I like plenty of artists, both contemporary and not. But Adriaenssen? By the gods, do I love him. If you ever hear about a mysterious heist at the Western and Eastern Art Museum where the only thing to disappear is the little fish painting – I didn't do it, you cannot prove anything, please don't come to my house, lol.

... For neroli/orange blossom: "Solo Vulcan | Loewe", "Solo Atlas | Loewe" and "Agua Drop | Loewe". For mimosa and violets: "Earth | Loewe". For rose: "Concrete | Comme des Garçons". For jasmine: "Jasmin et Cigarette | Etat Libre d'Orange". Other florals, uncategorized, yet beloved nonetheless: "Divin'Enfant | Etat Libre d'Orange", "Comme des Garçons 2 | Comme des Garçons", "Le perce-vent | Serge Lutens", "né il giorno né l'ora | Filippo Sorcinelli".

... My Nishane discovery set just came in the mail, which also coincided with me reaching my little 350 tested perfumes milestone. So I gave that 350th spot to "Ani (Extrait de Parfum) | Nishane". And sure. It's neat! The pastry variety it goes through as it dries down is fun and delicious, and ambergris base keeps them all warm and fresh. It's not for me, but I can see why it's held in high regard by other people.

... When it comes to interesting and atmospheric scents, my mind goes first and foremost to Etat Libre d'Orange and Comme des Garçons . But I'm not sure if they (or anyone else I'll talk about going forward) will fit into "under 150$" category if you intend to go for full bottles. Perhaps if you'll find them at a discount or buy secondhand? My favorites from CdG are "Rouge | Comme des Garçons" – candied ginger and fresh beetroot with bits of black earth still stuck to its skin; and "Amazingreen | Comme des Garçons" – an overgrown post-apocalyptic brutalist landscape. But CdG have a lot of curious offerings for a variety of unconventional tastes. My ELdO faves are "Divin'Enfant | Etat Libre d'Orange" – a vibrant powdery mess of everything you may find at a small town amusement park, from cotton candy to instant coffee and vomit; and "Jasmin et Cigarette | Etat Libre d'Orange" – cat piss infused run down apartment of a gorgeous chain-smoker woman. I think Jasmin et Cig is among my top 5 most worn fragrances at this point, lol. ELdO have a lot of fun compositions, and the ones I ended up liking were the opposite of what I expected to enjoy from them, so based on my experience – I'd recommend just grabbing a big discovery set and trying everything to see if something unexpected clicks. On the aquatic side of things in particular, maybe take a look at "Sous Le Pont Mirabeau | Etat Libre d'Orange". I think it's actually included in their big discovery set, which was around 50$ plus shipping last I've checked. While we're on the topic of off-kilter aquatics, my favorites from that genre are "Dans le bleu qui pétille | Serge Lutens" and "né il giorno né l'ora | Filippo Sorcinelli". Dans le bleu qui pétille is my favorite aquatic in general – cold morning at the sea; murky, rancid seafoam; putrid smoke from the open air fish market at the shore; the scent of lit mosquito coils. The full bottle is a bit over 150$, but you should be able to get it as a part of a cutesy Matin Lutens 3x10ml discovery set which is around 70ish $ as far as I'm aware. Which is even better, imo, because that way you'll also get to try clean girl aesthetic witch hut of "Point du jour | Serge Lutens"; and "Parole d'eau | Serge Lutens", which on me smelled like toothpaste, lol. When I bought my Matin Lutens discovery set, the old version used to include "L'Eau Serge Lutens | Serge Lutens", which smells like those scenes in the movies where the main character has a flashback to his dead wife smiling at him under brightly lit white bed covers. Might be a fun addition if any shops or resellers near you still have that old version in stock. né il giorno né l'ora is a more classic type of aquatic, and the full bottle is super expensive, but if you ever manage to get at least a decant, I recommend giving it a try. I added it to my collection very recently and am still trying to grasp what I think about it, but in general it smells like a city by the sea. Humid salty air infused with a myriad of scents coming from the open windows as you walk past apartment buildings in the evening. Another fun thing about it is that its note pyramid looks like it was accidentally put on its head. It is not! The citrus really opens up later than the rest of the notes. If we're talking about scent as an art form, this is a great example of it in my opinion. Another somewhat off-kilter brand I personally come to enjoy is Marc-Antoine Barrois. If you're looking for something abnormal, the first thing that comes to mind is "Aldebaran | Marc-Antoine Barrois" – tuberose, paprika and maté. Personally I found the mix to be horrid, but it sure is unique and memorable, I'll give it that. "Ganymede (Eau de Parfum) | Marc-Antoine Barrois" might be more wearable while still retaining an air of horror and unease about it. Leather, medicinal herbs, gauze and iodine. Smells like a 19th century hospital and freshly cleaned wounds. My favorite from them is "Encelade | Marc-Antoine Barrois" – rhubarb jam, roughout leather and wilted prairie on a summer eve. Makes me feel like a happy wild horse. But each of their selection has something interesting and refreshing to say. Just a matter of what you personally are more into. And if you happen to like any of their offers, the 30ml bottles should be just under your preferred 150$ threshold ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

... Testing "Black Caviar | Electimuss" today, the last of my three Electimuss decants. Usually whatever decant I save for last turns out to be a huge disappointment, but a girl has to get lucky sometimes. I'm actually enjoying this one a fair bit. I might have a thing for pungent bitter aquatics. Who'd have thunk it.

... DiGster Love what ELdO has done and continues to do. Have you tried the new Above the Waves yet? Experimentum Crucis is my favorite, but I have many others I really like. I'm yet to get my hands on Above the Waves, but I'd love to try it eventually (along with many ELdO classics that are currently unavailable at decanting services I trust in my area). Experimentum Crucis is, unfortunately, way too rosy on my skin, but I appreciate the vibrant cumin note in it. While I'm at it, tonight is a "Jasmin et Cigarette | Etat Libre d'Orange" kind of night.
