does a good carrot perfume exist?

... Irving Have you tried "Rabbit | Zoologist" or "Eyes Closed | Byredo" by any chance? i haven't tried rabbit but mostly bc my experience with zoology is very mixed - i've tried "Elephant | Zoologist", "Dragonfly (2021) | Zoologist", and "Chipmunk | Zoologist" and the only one i really liked was chipmunk. dragonfly was fine just not my thing, elephant i don't detect most of the notes listed. "Rabbit | Zoologist" sounds interesting mostly but i fear the cinnamon and almond notes would make it really christmasy, but i may try it at some point. i'm interested in "Eyes Closed | Byredo" too and it'd be worth sampling, i fear the "Holiday potpourri in the worst way" review 🤣 not that i let reviews color my whole opinion on anything, but i've had a really bad track record with a lot of fragrances i've sampled recently, so now i'm just paranoid that my nose/skin chemistry will always get the worst parts of any fragrance.

... i will rarely touch anything with rose or leather in it - my skin just pulls the worst out of these two. im starting to learn to ignore seashell notes as well, or anything that can pull as too rock-y or mineral-y

... Ursaw kushbreth perfumers who use ai photos should not be allowed to sell or make perfumes 😋 if youre too lazy to just take a picture with some dollar store props, your perfume probably smells like ass too Right? Or even worse, perfumes that are advertised as fully "AI-made". Why would I want to spend money on something nobody bothered to make? i would legit rather see a piece of construction paper background taken with a shitty phone camera than ai images. honestly to me it's not only fucking lazy but it shows that you have NO faith in your products - if you feel like you "have" to use ai for your advertising, then there is something about your scent that you think underperforms. either that or you're just a really uncreative cheapskate who just wants to fuck over the environment for *checks notes* a picture of a cupcake.... etsy is the WORST about this... there are so many indie sellers trying to push some shitty garbage perfume, and they ALL use ai images. miss me with that. keep your bullshit. it takes 5 minutes to set up a little photo with a bottle, and at least THAT shows me that you arent some bot or scam artist trying to sell dog water.

... full disclosure, i am making this forum post after trying Pearfat's "Rabbit Rabbit | Pearfat Parfum" and being pretty disappointed. i was expecting a spice-forward juicy carrot that dries down into a galangal barley, but the juniper pulls SO soapy on me that i hardly get any notes beyond that and the barley. i was at least expecting some kind of carrot note but it just gets totally buried. i love the opening so much, it's really extremely fucking unfortunate how quickly it fades - the apricot does so much to carry the vibe of spiced carrot. so before i bought this sample, i searched high and low (mostly on parfumo) for some kind of carrot fragrance that fits a sweet-and-spicy profile without being straight up carrot cake or carrot ice cream or carrot dessert whatever. i really would not mind a LITTLE bit of sweet carrot gourmand if the carrot note was really prominent. honestly what i was thinking of is a carrot with maybe turmeric, pepper, brown sugar, and maybe just a touch of ginger... but i havent been able to find anything close. honestly part of me wonders if a carrot fragrance is even real? how is this not something that i can find? carrot and spices with a little touch of sweetness sounds so perfect, but i just can't find anything like that. i've seen a lot of carrot *seed* fragrances, but having had no experience with that note, i have no way to know if that's what i'm looking for or not. should i give up? do you know of any carrot fragrances that actually smell like carrot, and not just on the opening? is there some other note similar to the smell of a sweet but vegetal carrot that i should consider? should i just try a carrot cake fragrance and hope for the best? sincerely, someone who is going through a weird carrot phase rn

... i think people who say that a fragrance is terrible but wont go into detail on how or why should just like, not write reviews 🥸 this is much more of a problem on fragrantica than here tho

... "Varens Sweet - Coco Soleil | Ulric de Varens" . i'm not one to turn my nose up at affordable fragrances purely because they're affordable, and i was really looking forward to trying "Varens for Men Ambre Coca | Ulric de Varens" since i've heard a few times that it's a really enjoyable cola scent. however, coco soleil was so bad, it is PURE astringent white florals with almost no coconut whatsoever. the smell is so bad, i would not be surprised if i saw this in a dollar store. i think i will not be trying ambre coca now, which is sad, ive been dying for a good cola fragrance

... preface/side notes: i've tried a lot of indie houses before!! some of them are great and some of them are (sorry) dog water. Andromeda's Curse is the best example of some of the worst indie fragrances i've ever tried (no throw at all even with the expectation that oils don't have very much to begin with, notes are painfully linear compared to what's listed, scents do not last and smell like candle oils) Paranormal Perfumes is maybe less known but i've had good experiences w their scents lasting just the right amount for their price, and they always smell as advertised - my signature scent (not listed on parfumo) is from PP but sadly discontinued BUT the owner takes requests and she's very lovely to work with Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, i'm not sure if they count as indie or if they're considered boutique, but they are the best in terms of fragrance quality/longevity for indies and nothing has ever compared to how insanely high quality they are (in my opinion anyway) Solstice Scents, i tried very recently, and i had a difficult time with their fragrances - it's difficult to say but it felt just generally underwhelming and their scents didn't last very long to me (to be fair i've only had the samples for a month but i'm not sure how much time will change them really) my question for yall: have you tried alkemia? how do they fare compared to other indies, or even compared to non indies? i'm fascinated by how unique some of their fragrances sound and i'm thinking of asking for a sample pack for my birthday so i wanna hear from yall what you think! in particular from them im interested in "Mermaids in the Basement | Alkemia", "O Tea! | Alkemia", "Neroli Vetiveria | Alkemia", "Seaglass | Alkemia" etc etc (idk if u can tell im in a sweet and summery scent mood this season lmao) open to suggestions from them as well, especially if you can tell what i like from my profile ^_^ hope yall are having a good summer despite everything!!!

Do you ever blind buy? Or do you always test first?

... i feel like i absolutely have to buy samples (no irl fragrance stores that are worth a damn) before blind buying something mostly bc i dont have like a high budget for fragrances. tho i did blind buy "Citrush (2025) | Boy Smells" and "Varens Sweet - Coco Soleil | Ulric de Varens" as an early bday gift (tbf i got the travel size of citrush and coco soleil was only like 9 bucks and i figure it seems pretty normal)

... @Akira1005 so glad to know there's someone else looking for something that feels nonexistant. i've been trying to find a "cold" vanilla ice cream scent too, i've been on a wild vanilla search for the past few weeks. that sora fragrance sounds awesome, an ice note sounds so good

... i'm scared of vanilla/mint combinations smelling too christmas-y or too peppermint-y (i really hate peppermint but i like mint under certain conditions). so happy to get a recc from u @Gourmandgrl!! its weird im not normally super into gourmands but this summer i've been obsessed with trying to find the right vanilla.... very odd. i'll def check out "On a Cloud / 入道雲 | J-Scent" :D

... it feels a little like i'm asking for something impossible. cuz first off, how do you even describe or understand what a "cooling" fragrance is like? personally it's more of a sensation than a particular note. maybe it doesn't even exist to begin with. i think of how refreshing and sharp some scents are, and think that maybe this is it? and then there's the issue of vanilla being basically inherently "warm", so how would you even cool it?? can this only be achieved through layering? is it even possible?!! ANYWAY any chilling/cool vanilla recommendations? what is a chill scent to you? do you know of any other type of sweet/creamy "chill" scent? are you having a good summer? thanks so much, have a good one yall 🌴

... i'm not sure if it would work for solid perfume but i have an eyebrow pigment wax that i refreshed with a very minimal amount of jojoba oil 👍i'm certain that the methods Gourmandgrl mentioned would be useful for combining the two. good luck!!
