Sublime
This is a fine, balanced, subtle patchouli fragrance. It is sublime. It does not scream. It is not intrusive. It is not loud. It spreads its aura quietly and subliminally. Only after 15 to 20 minutes does everyone in the room notice him, even if they didn't notice him at first. And in this way, it lasts half an eternity.
My girlfriend has a sense of smell that is no longer normal for a human being. She smells everything 100 meters upwind. She sniffs a glass of red wine once, then prays down aromas. I go online and research the wine on a wine connoisseur website. It's mostly true. When I bought the AHPS and wore it for the first time, she didn't say anything at first. Didn't seem to notice anything. And after a few minutes: "Wow, what's that?"
I really don't have her olfactory organ, which is why I won't even begin to describe the individual components of her perception. To me, it is tart, spicy, autumnal. It goes well with a forest where the colorful leaves are falling.
I recently saw a video by a couturier (French) in which he argued that there are only three styles in men's fashion: British stands for understatement, French for perfection and Italian for freedom. AHPS would therefore be a British-French hybrid.
If you want patchouli with a strong presence, loud and dominant, Aramis Aramis or Guerlain Héritage are the right choice. For a patchouli with understatement, go for Absolument Hommes Patchouli sublimé.
Van Cleef & Arpel's Moonlight Patchouli has a very similar effect on me.
