coffeehouse speakeasy
The first impression the scent gave me is of something dark and forbidden; something that happens during the night. I imagined the kind of person who I'd smell this on - dark and mysterious with a deep voice, dressed in leather and shades of black and brown, smoking rolled cigarettes, talking about philosophy and literature. The kind of person you spend the whole night in conversation with, enamored by them, only to never see them again. You'd think about them every now and then, wondering if they were really *that* cool or if it was just the heat of the moment... Until one day, your paths would cross again, this time in broad daylight, and it is confirmed - they're everything you imagined them to be all along - and maybe more.
The scent itself to me is leather, tobacco, coffee, iris, woods, smoke, and maybe a bit of dark chocolate, all blended together seamlessly.
The description I gave was of the kind of person I imagine would smell like this perfume, but I can also see the scent being atmospheric - something you could smell in the air just wafting off the surroundings. In that case I really agree that this is something you'd smell in a café - a lesser known, hidden spot in your town, furnished with dark woods and soft leathers, who roasts their own beans and allows smoking inside, with students sitting in every corner discussing the latest book they've read.
So if it isn't obvious - I think the scent is gorgeous. Thin Wild Mercury is just hit after hit for me. However, reading the reviews here and on other sites really makes me believe this scent is very dependent on skin chemistry, so be sure to sample first.
