Caraway and Fig Garden
Carvi, that is the botanical name for kitchen caraway. And I waited for it with a certain skepticism.
However, the beginning is completely different; it first hits the nose with an alcoholic note, then it becomes very fruity with mandarins and oranges.
After a quarter of an hour, a sweetness emerges that initially leaves me a bit puzzled. But then I realize where I know this sweetness from: When I boil potatoes, I always add some caraway seeds to the cooking water. When the potatoes are done, it smells just like caraway. So there we have the caraway.
An hour later, I think I smell something floral; it could be rose. Wood is also slowly making an appearance. However, it cannot hold on for long, and Carvi & Jardin de Figuier shines with an abundance of flowers.
Two hours later, the flowers are still detectable, but something spicy and peppery is added, and the woodiness also re-emerges.
However, the whole thing seems somewhat artificial to me, and the combination of floral, spicy, and woody even occasionally reminds me of a pipe tobacco I used to smoke. I had imagined the Fig Garden differently.
Carvi & Jardin Figuier did not convince me; while it is not a bad scent, it neither met my expectations of caraway nor of a fig garden.
In my opinion, the fragrance is rather feminine and suitable for cool to warm temperatures. The sillage is rather subtle to skin-close, with a longevity of eight hours.
