Love at second sight sometimes lasts longer! ;)
Lavender & Thyme has been on the market for a few years now. A few years ago, when I was trying out the series - initially interested because I liked Melissa & Verbena so much - Lavender immediately caught my eye. I am still looking for a replacement for my beloved Eau de Toilette from Yves Rocher - Pur desire de Lavande. It was incredibly calming and fresh at the same time. I hadn't found anything comparable until then. However, when I tried 4711 Lavande & Thyme, I initially found the top note, which strongly resembles the original 4711, rather unattractive. After that, at least for my nose back then, there wasn't much more to it. So, I had already written it off as: insignificant and uninteresting. It wasn't until Christmas 2015 that I gave the EDC a second chance when it was on sale. I sprayed it on and didn't expect much. On the right was the already well-known and highly regarded 4711 Acqua Colonia Lime & Nutmeg, and on the left was Lavender. The first impression of the top note was again: 4711. However, while strolling through the city, the delicate scent of lavender and powder eventually reached my nose. And that amidst all the almond and food stalls at the Christmas market! Sure, it's just an EDC and the sillage is limited, but it's definitely sufficient for an EDC! Moreover, the price of €40 for 170 ml (original price) is not overpriced at all. Well then, I smelled it on my wrist once more and then again and again. I couldn't stop. I immediately thought that it actually reminded me of my beloved Yves Rocher fragrance in the heart note. Considering my shopping budget, I tried to talk myself out of the 4711, but, as you surely know, it drew me closer and closer to the perfumery. Offer, discounts, and a supposedly new favorite scent? Yessss, I couldn't say no - and I haven't regretted it for a second. After I had my new treasure at home, I wore it daily for weeks. In the morning, to start the day in a good mood, at noon, to take a whiff of "freshly washed" with me, in the evening, to snuggle up a bit in front of the TV, and at night on the pillow, to fall asleep calmly and securely. By now, the bottle is almost empty, and I have already secured a refill. Is it true that this scent is no longer being produced??? It's getting rare to find, and I'm already considering stockpiling.
My tip to all skeptics: Give the new 4711 scents a second or even third chance. One will definitely be for you! And I've also gotten used to the top note by now. It definitely belongs there!
Specifically, the Lavande & Thymian is not pure lavender, but the thyme only comes through very insignificantly on the side and doesn't disturb at all. In the base note, there remains an incredibly soapy-powdery lavender that truly calms. Fans of particularly soapy scents should definitely take a risk and give it a sniff (and bring some patience)!

Exactly, the top note is also a struggle for me.
