The Base of Dark Parmas

Actually, I had prepared my girlfriend for Rome by saying that this would probably be rather unpleasant for her, as I expected a kind of perfume paradise. However, during our 7-hour tour, I unfortunately only found a few run-of-the-mill Sephoras, a sweet niche perfumery (with nothing spectacular that isn’t available in Germany) & the wonderful Aqua di Parma shop next to the Spanish Steps. I was a bit disappointed, my girlfriend relieved & it made my selection easy - so I’ll just test two AdPs in a perfume-unfriendly climate of over 30 degrees. There’s hardly a better brand for such regions & temperatures. And even better: here you can find the new Ambra, exclusive until September (in Italy & Paris, I mean)!

Anyone familiar with the brand's oud or leather scent will recognize the direction blindly & quickly. However, Ambra (not to be confused with amber!) does not really concentrate on a specific darker fragrance note. Instead, the dark base of the two scents has been condensed, concentrated, yes, purified. At the beginning, you briefly get the typical citrus essences with orange, lemon & neroli, but then the scent unfolds its core - a delightful aroma of darker woods, airy musk & slightly powdery plum or at least sweetness. It merges ideally with the skin & aura of the wearer and could almost be suitable for layering. And I think the core of Ambra has been hit quite perfectly. So, if you are looking for a woody-sweet charisma enhancer in a refined manner, you are exactly right here. Not much scent development & quite linear, but why change when you are so lovely?

Bottle: I would love to have one of these in my display case.
Sillage: similar to a Molecule 01 (which achieves this with Iso-E) or other Ambra scents - you hardly notice it, but its aura should not be underestimated.
Longevity: also here, it’s not one that gives up quickly, even in desert temperatures - 6 hours.

Conclusion: for those who liked the basic material & the basic direction of the previous dark Aqua di Parmas but do not want to be specifically tied to leather or oud, Ambra might even be a signature candidate?!

Pokal!
