As an absolute fan of Roger & Gallet's Savon Œillet Mignardise (unfortunately, it is no longer produced), I was naturally curious about this clove scent:
It reminds me very much of the soap ( http://bavaria-online.net/images/2011/432aduft.jpg ) and I have a real déjà-vu :)
The opening features a pleasantly bitter bergamot, enhanced by white pepper, leading into a wonderful spiciness that then slowly transitions into the heart note.
In this, there are again pepper, cinnamon, saffron, and also cardamom, which now ground this oscillating clove-rose mixture. The clove is, for me, the standout ingredient in all phases.
In the base, this bitter scent is softened by tolu balsam, benzoin resin, and labdanum, combined with vanilla (rather unsweet) and a wonderfully fluffy ylang-ylang note.
ŒB is permeated in all phases by the typical light incense note of AdV, which appears - depending on the day's condition - mostly only subtly.
Overall, the scent feels somehow not new in terms of groundbreaking and unusual fragrance design, but rather like an old beloved friend in first-class quality, whom you meet again after a long time and with whom there is no 'strangeness'... it feels as if you parted just yesterday, even though it has been much longer.
Genre: Spicy scent, suitable for both leisure and the office
For: Unisex
Sillage and longevity: Good to strong and easily 8 hours
Status: Clear recommendation for Gallet soap fans and clove lovers
