Funky Apples
When I was young there was a "value" brand of shampoo in a transparent bottle with big green apples printed on the front. The fruity fragrance of the shampoo was literally mouthwatering; I'd lick my lips, well aware that it would taste awful, and yet I was still tempted! These were not crisp green apples from an earthly tree, these were larger-than-life, stupefyingly potent, space-age apples.
Another memory: my kindergarten's play dough, cooked simply from scratch; just flour, salt, water and food dye.
While nothing to do with the notes listed, I assure you that Furze is the quirky marriage of these two smells. The salty, fusty demi-gourmand of play dough subdues the sweet-sour tang of lurid green not-apples, a concession that tones Furze down into something actually wearable. The resulting scent is matte in texture, reminiscent of a food flavouring in that you can smell/taste it on your tongue as well as through the nose. Into the drydown vanilla and coconut take control, further smoothing out the faux-apple.

The downside to all this novelty is that Furze has a lamentable lack of projection. Even at first spray sillage was so piddly that even the store assistant admitted she could hardly smell it. I put the tester back, disheartened, but kept circling back to it until finally I gave in and took a bottle home. It's quite an original little scent, a fragrance ear worm. Funky, fun and just a little bit obnoxious!

(Und wenn deine Fürze riechen wie dieses Parfüm, Flaschen sie!)

An interesting one!
Furze isn't a perfume I initially liked, and even now I don't feel all that easy with it. It's a very heady, strong mix of Mimosa (strong floral) mixed with Neroli (soapy smell), and raw Coconut (sweet & sour smell), followed by Vanilla (buttery creamy smell), and if that isn't enough to clash... I don't know what is!

That being said, I have started to get used to this one. As others have said, it has a distinct "suntan lotion" smell (from the coconut + vanilla). To me, this scent is like a mix between citrus and milk, or butter and soap. It's like it's almost rich and creamy but at the same time green, sharp and floral with bitter citrus.

Furze is inspired by the plant alternatively known as "Grouse" or "Broom", and the story goes that these plants (I have not smelled them myself) are essentially hillside bushes that have protective powers and value as ancient herbs etc. I also read that Simon Constantine wanted to create with this the English equivalent of the French "fougère" or "Fern" note (although this time inspired by an English shrub). It is said the flowers of this bush have a smell like that of sharp Coconut and Vanilla, and it would seem that is what he was going for here.

Either way the longevity and projection are amazing, this thing lasts on me over 20 hours and I can even smell it the next morning. I think all Lush scents come in Eau de Parfum if not pure Perfume concentration.

A bright, citric, creamy, buttery, milky, soapy floral. I can't really describe it any better than that. Try it!

Loved my original bottle in 2013. Sampled it in Lush today (2026) and was excited as I thought it had been discontinued. I sampled their Death and Decay at the same time. When I left the shop, I couldn't tell the samples apart. Cloying, sickly, and with a hint of the odor of bad breath. Would not wear.

Grandma, where are you?...
...dead for 5 days, presumably.

Do you know that moment from your childhood when Grandma pulls out the handkerchief and ...? everyone knows what happens, the trauma is pre-programmed.
This scent nearly triggered a post-traumatic stress disorder in me. Nearly, because then I realized that what Grandma "did" to me back then smelled still better than this nightmare in a bottle. I found the name quite, well, appealing would probably be the wrong word, but at least funny. Even what’s written on the label would be a blessing compared to what’s inside. Not that we misunderstand each other, I’m not a flatulence junkie.
I bought a whole (large!) bottle of it, like some grandiose moldy Croesus, I handed the nice saleswoman the money and wafted away with this stink bomb in my handbag.
What happened afterward, you can read above, I tested it quite cheerfully and then this beast bit me in the nose.

Grandma, get the handkerchief out...I need an antidote to this pungent stench.

A brief note on the actual scent: rancid coconut meets rotten cut flower water. If broom smells like this, I hope it never settles in my imaginary garden, otherwise I would have to conduct a controlled burn and all my coconut palms would be in the bin.

Rice Pudding Powder [with Video]
Yes, the name is not so nice. There is a thread on Parfumo called "Stupid Perfume Names," where I encountered Furze for the first time, and although I found Lush very likable back then, I sincerely wished I didn't like it, because I would never buy a perfume with such a name, no matter how great it was. About a year and a half later, I tested it, curious because of my friend, and I had to really restrain myself from buying it on the spot (because by that time, it was already being discontinued, and I had about a week to make a decision). The name no longer stood in my way. "Furze" sounds like the plural of "fur," so "fur," I quickly thought, and indeed, Furze, henceforth "Furs," has a somewhat furry quality. Soft, cuddly. A bit wild, but cute.

When you apply Furs, you commit. The dosage is done drop by drop. The first drop on my wrist initially made me wonder if I could understand my friend's enthusiasm - the scent seemed pleasant, green, misty, warm, yet fresh. Not bad, but hmm. I wandered around Lush a bit more and eventually left the store. On my way to the subway, I soon wondered where this exceptionally beautiful sweet aroma was coming from, which seemed to fill the air around me - I initially thought of crêpes or potato pancakes with applesauce, but there seemed to be no corresponding stand anywhere. It took me at least two minutes to realize I was the source, which initially seemed incredible to me, because according to my experience with Lush perfumes, I had actually only put one drop from the tester pipette on my skin.

Lush likes to play with references, but the theme of this fragrance is very simple and quickly addressed: the broom (Furze), a widely spread shrub in the UK, emits a very intense scent when in bloom, reminiscent of coconut and vanilla. Both vanilla and coconut are highly dosed in Furs, the cloud that surrounds you a few minutes after the harmless opening is sweet, expansive, milky - like rice pudding. For the next fifteen to twenty hours, this rice pudding will not leave your side, it will impregnate your T-shirt for days. And when the last trace is washed away in the washing machine, you will have a real craving for it. At least that’s how it is for me.

By now, I have increased from one to four to five drops spread throughout the day, because I really enjoy sinking into this rice pudding. The great thing is that Furs is sweet and incredibly captivating, but not heavy or sticky. Unlike real rice pudding, Furs is powdery. And that is still a very diplomatic way to put it; at times, it seems to me when wearing Furs that with every slightly more vigorous movement, I throw a handful of rice pudding powder into the air. This powderiness, stemming from the neroli, gives the scent both weight and, on the other hand, a radiant, dry, and airy texture. It alleviates your fear of drowning, which may arise given the dominance of Furs at times.

Rarely can I describe a scent in one word, but "rice pudding powder" actually already captures all the essential characteristics of Furs. Its progression is also quite linear; after the unsuspecting opening, the scent slowly oscillates between rice pudding and bitter-dry neroli. After about six hours, during which it loses none of its presence, it gradually darkens a bit, the vanilla drifts towards cocoa, and the overall gentle floral notes become a bit more bitter. The linear development is interrupted by brief flashes of accords: parchment paper, sunscreen, popcorn.

In its essence, Furs is a bit like Le Mâle - a little intrusive, but with a sunny disposition. It is a scent that floods your reward center with happiness-inducing substances while simultaneously challenging your self-confidence, because everyone around you will notice what trip you are on.

Very creamy and soft perfume ! I really enjoyed this one, the mix of a creamy coconut and a bit of florals. A great balance between them.

The neighbor 'FURZE' smells.
It smells,
as if he cooked dessert on the stove.
Can unicorns fart…
then maybe the rotten base?

Better than expected. First greenish, then coconut in a tolerable way, ends on a creamy sweet note. Reminds me of body care. Not my taste.

Sun-warmed coconut that has already passed its expiration date. Musty. Plus dusty almond-vanilla powder + waxy flowers. Not4Me

Between sweet, gentle vanilla with coconut and dusty marzipan powder, beautiful bitter notes shimmer: the broom? Unfortunately, it’s just too short.
