One thing right off the bat: I am aware that this fragrance costs only about 30-40€.
That's exactly the point, as it clearly smells like it. There is not a single positive scent association that I can attribute to this EDP. Neither the opening is good, nor the dry down, no fragrance notes, it simply smells like bitter grapefruit.
Why this Afnan has almost exclusively positive reviews is truly a mystery to me. Every 99 cent Balea shower gel from DM lasts longer. Only the bottle is really well made as usual and feels very high quality.
Since I also secured a ticket for the hype train, I was once again reminded why there are niche fragrances that are worth their price, and I am very glad about that!
Yep, it's terrible, smells way too strong of lemon and there's no scent development, just like with almost all dupes from the Middle East. The only thing I have to disagree with is that the sillage and longevity were high for me, but you just can't get rid of that sharp smell.
And to the other gentlemen, we're on the internet, where there are also thousands of 5-star reviews on Amazon and Temu for the biggest junk.
Well, everyone has different tastes, but what you write and rate has nothing to do with reality. A 2 is already pretty harsh. It's funny that this scent is actually one of the most popular, and if so many people rate it well, not everyone can be wrong. But, there won't be a fragrance that everyone loves.
He's definitely overhyped, and he's not really anything special, but he's not bad either. Just a citrus scent with slightly ambered notes. The longevity is quite solid for me, even in the heat.
I actually have a positive memory of "Thurathi (Blue)." My bottle seemed very suitable for warm weather. However, that test was quite a while ago. Did Afnan reformulate it?
As for the reviews, I haven't been paying attention to them for a long time.
Well, with over 3,000 votes, the assessment should definitely reflect a realistic trend - the scent is mostly well-received, which I understand. But of course, there can be other opinions too.
All good, I was more concerned about whether it's being artificially praised (because of the hype, etc.), but I don't think so. At first, I found it quite musty and sweaty. Then, after a few months, it suddenly became really pleasant. I'll give it another try in the coming days and see what my current impression is.
The masses really have nothing to do with it 😅 My review comes from impressions and emotions based on a large collection and experience, and as you said, in MY opinion, it's just another low-budget cheap scent for me…
As I said, I understand. The same goes for the Marc Gebauer fragrances as with Orange Flamingo. We've had thousands hyped here, but it smells like a cheap toilet spray. I always pay more attention to good and meaningful reviews from users whose taste I share...
