Amber Aftelier

What can I say? I haven't been so overwhelmed and taken away by a scent in a long time. Taken away to a prehistoric forest landscape, shrouded in veils of eternal smoke.
"Amber" by Aftelier is, in my opinion, not amber at all. At least not the sultry exotic amber. Perhaps a Nordic one. Very archaic, very imposing. Enchanted, but in a rough, dark, primal way and not whimsically cute.
Heavy resin is massive and can be smelled in thick, steady drops. Comforting and horrifically rough at the same time. The real thrill for me, however, is that something seems to smolder above the dark forest tone. To say "campfire" or "incense" would be too mundane, but it is definitely a hovering, morbid burning note. It is also what adds a strange sweetness to the whole. But everything is outside of ordinary categories. I don’t care about the bright notes that the pyramid promises individually. However, they could be partly responsible in small amounts for creating some of the impressions I described above. But one should not hope for the slightest sunny citrus shower here.
Anyone wanting to test this perfume must have a strong day. It gives a lot, but also has the power to knock you down quite mercilessly if you are not up to it. A perfume could not have more character.
