Not exactly number 1 but very nice!

Since there are only 3 Douglas stores in Germany where you can test the scent, I ordered Aigner's Oud fragrance blindly. Frankfurt or Nuremberg was a bit too far for testing.. I would have used more fuel than the fragrance costs;-)!
In the first minutes, a slightly piercing Oud note emerges, mixed with a beautifully spicy nutmeg.. I actually only know this note from grandma's potato salad.. interesting as a fragrance note. The whole thing has a sweet undertone that I really like. Everything is very well blended, only the Oud stands out a bit. Leather, rose, and clove are more or less negligible or not recognizable to me at all. A bit more noticeable in the heart note is the violet... since "Steampunk" I can recognize the note immediately. Violet is rarely harmoniously incorporated into a men's fragrance, often getting a feminine touch.. here it is still bearable for me. Saffron is more of a hint than a solid component of No1 Oud.. it could definitely handle a bit more of that. No1 Oud quickly takes on a creamy character, which, as described by others, reminds one of a good body lotion. Here the scent, as described by 0815abc, reminds me of hairspray.. that was also my first thought.. classy hairdresser, golden spray can, women over 50. Sounds worse than it is, the more I use the fragrance the less I smell them.. and I’m actually glad about that. But the fragrance doesn’t really blow me away.. despite the fabulously low price of €49/50ml. Maybe I’ve been a bit spoiled lately by very high-quality and luxurious "Oud fragrances" like "Oud" by MFK (you can't really present Oud and especially saffron any better), "Aoud Melody" by Montale, or the new Guerlain "Santal Royal".. each one appeals to me more, offers me more.. can do something better... if.. yes if you disregard the price. I try to keep that aside and only evaluate the fragrances in direct comparison... but I just can't manage it completely.. because the price/performance ratio is simply phenomenal, but Montale and Guerlain are not that far away for double the content. But in "Oud" by MFK, I could just dive in and bathe in the creamy saffron oud melt... you can clearly notice the quality differences.. also compared to the other 2.. you should notice that and it should not devalue the fragrance.. not at all.. it just doesn't evoke any euphoria compared to the others. It is beautiful, perfect for approaching the topic of Oud, has a good longevity of about 8 hours with moderate/subtle sillage. All in all, Aigner did everything right! I see 90% as too high, 80% rather too low... so the golden mean. I would classify it as unisex with a slight lean towards the fairer sex.

Edit:

After over a week, I have to correct the longevity downwards.. it just lasts about 6 hours and the sillage is also very subtle after 5-6 sprays:-(... what a pity...

Well, I had someone sitting across from me, 30 cm away, I applied 6 sprays 10 minutes before... no one could smell me!

Low sillage? Funny, my colleagues wrinkle their noses from the other side of the room (about 4m away) when I wear it, even with just two sprays (hair and décolletage). They’ll have to deal with it, because I really like it :-)
But the 6-hour longevity is accurate...

Your lovely comment has sparked my curiosity again. There were some really great Aigner fragrances. Maybe this one can build on that success.

I'm still lingering a bit around the scent. I've often regretted jumping in too quickly.

Yoooaaaeeeeh, that definitely sounds interesting. It's staying on my wishlist! There's an Aigner store in Wiesbaden that should have it. So I need to check it out now.....
