THE Fragrance for 40+ … °C

Man, what a sweat we had in July 2019. Almost every perfume failed after 1-2 hours or was no longer perceptible due to these unbearable temperatures. Officially, it was said, "German Weather Service confirms new heat record: 42.6 degrees, it has never been hotter in Germany."

But what is the best to wear for that?

Fortunately, during these super hot days, the ideal fragrance arrived for me, which has no problems with it. Could it be that 40° summers in the United Arab Emirates are the norm, where Al Haramain is located? It seems so, because L'Aventure Knight handles it effortlessly, yes, it shows them the cold shoulder! Here’s my tip:

2-3 sprays on the T-shirt in the chest area work wonders, as an intensely green sword immediately slices through the oppressive air and delivers a refreshingly cooling hit to the olfactory organ. For younger people who might not know it, this "if it’s too strong, you’re too weak" effect could initially be a bit of a shock, as something in it reminds me of the vintage Cool Water. Although it is always referred to as aquatic, wasn’t this intense power note always more ozonic than aquatic, as we understand the latter TODAY? Anyway, I am thrilled and don’t have an original CW on hand anymore. Yet the similarity of this piercing synthetic note is unmistakable, even if L'Aventure Knight fundamentally smells greener (I am not familiar with Green Irish Tweed yet).

But back to the fragrance itself: at the beginning, the citrus top notes are clearly perceptible and share the ultra-fresh scent impression about equally with the ozone. Then, after about 10-15 minutes, the essence becomes greener and a little earthy. Not really my thing, is that the tea? It might be, but its perceptibility diminishes a bit after about three-quarters of an hour, while the striking dominance of the fragrance also recedes to about half an arm's length. Now this Al Haramain is really great, and after another hour, the musk rounds it off a bit, making it a little softer. Nevertheless, this spritzily bright green freshness peak remains for many hours - less as a scent cloud and more like a sleek boomerang that constantly circles its wearer and zips past their nose again and again. Delightfully fresh, crystal clear, and transparent, while I can only discern a slight spiciness, but no iris, violet, or powdery notes, which is probably better for this fantastic summer hit.

Therefore, I can only warmly ;) recommend L'Aventure Knight, even for layering: just add 1-2 zips and the next summer can come - no matter how sweaty. Because this is

Does anyone here know if it has similarities to Tres Nuit by Armaf? That one is also often compared to GIT, which I’ve never smelled.

Why do I keep overlooking the degree sign at 40+... I guess it's because the vintage version of CW falls exactly into that age group ;)

Lalique White holds up really well in the heat too.

@Gandix ... Yep, I've never given a fragrance a 10 before. This one is good, but only for the peak summer, in my opinion ;)

Great review, I really enjoy your writing style! :) So, have you given a 10 yet? I did for the first time recently! For Santal Nabataea 😍

Looks like you've found a perfect match for yourself. Why just a 7.5 then? Are you that strict? ;)

@3lbows ... that's true! The vintage Cool Water is more aquatic and L'Aventure Knight is greener. However, the (only) ozonic synthetic, that typical sharpness of Cool Water, feels very similar to this one.

You don't know GIT? WTF??? Sounds like we need to make a trade. I'll get a sample of this from you, and you'll get one of GIT from me. Deal? Deal?

I'm currently decanting some of this as well. But I've heard that the vintage CW leans more aquatic, while I find Al Haramain to be more green...

You've really found a perfect companion, Frischnase. Over 40 degrees is definitely beyond my comfort zone. Well, I actually hit my limit at 25 degrees, but I won't reveal that ;-) Enjoy the fragrance!

Interesting! One might think that Al Haramain is poking fun at the Western niche...
