Ali Rhabarber - sour smells funny

First of all: we are talking about a fragrance that costs just 7 € for 35 ml of Eau de Parfum in an orientally themed shop. One shouldn't have euphoric expectations or even wonder about the bottle or criticize the somewhat clumsy sprayer.

What matters is the content - and it initially comes across as very citrusy fresh with a large share of relatively sour and green notes. Ideal for high temperatures, but how can I categorize the sour components that remind me a bit of rhubarb?

I didn't get much wiser on Al Rehab's website, but Fragrantica confirmed that rhubarb has indeed made its way into the fragrance notes - a plant species that I wouldn't quickly associate with the Arabian Peninsula, yet has long been used as a remedy by doctors there.

In addition, mandarin, coriander, tea leaves, amber, licorice, star anise, and vanilla also find their way into the formula. The tea leaves likely contribute to the green aspect, while star anise emits a slightly sweet to sour aura and is known as a healing essential oil. The olfactory connection to licorice isn't too distant either, although this direction plays a timid role in Zidan - more so than one would admit for amber or vanilla.

Well, besides rhubarb, you won't find 40 predatory or flashy ingredients that would present Zidan as a rich fragrance treasure. For that, one should read the first sentence again.

Nevertheless, one can almost perceive it as a bargain treasure that can just as well be worn by women. I wonder if the creators from the Arabian Peninsula would like to hear that. By the way, Zidan translates to progress - and I hope that there will be some soon over there.

I often don't get along well with orientals.

These cheaper Arabic brands just don't convince me. I've never found anything. It seems like there's no testing requirement either.

Really well described. I really like this fruity, tangy something :-) Thanks for discovering and sharing it...

Oh right, that was the one from the store on Bonner Straße: I also thought it was a good deal in terms of price and quality. Some of the things you can buy there are really well made (referring to your first sentence, of course).

Why should we withhold the plague known as "rhubarb compote" from the rest of humanity?
