Spicy with downplayed flowers
I had not heard about Albert Nipon before getting my hands on Albert Nipon Parfum. According to an article on fashionconservatory.com, Albert Nipon and his wife, Pearl, made ultra chic and feminine clothes for the modern 70s’ and 80s’ woman. Along came the signature scent in 1983. He was imprisoned in the mid eighties because he ‘forgot’ to pay enough taxes, or so the story goes. I am happy that he made ANP before that. For it is a great fragrance.
Albert Nipon Parfum is a real 80s: more than twenty different notes, loud and long lasting. It has, like many 80s, a spicy-oriental vibe and especially the spices are great. Clove, Vetiver, Pepper… marvelous. The flowers are there, but downplayed. The most distinct are Rose and Carnation. A good background for the spicy theme. It keeps turning spicier and sweeter every minute - and it lasts long.
The bottle is truly adorable. Very feminine and delicate with a beautiful stopper designed as a bowtie. Since I only have a miniature, I am not sure whether the full size bottle has a glass stopper. The stopper on the mini is of plastic. It does not make it less charming, though. If I ever come close to a full size, I shall have a close look at the stopper. If it is of glass, I shall buy.
