A little washed-up, but not bad
Like all the others, this "flanker" is only a flanker inasmuch as it has the same bottle shape as Cabotine. It's a shame, because I think the weird syrupy tuberose from the original would do very well in this new setting, but ah well. This is something different, so I'll review it as such.

Gold's bottle is I believe meant to put me in mind of a brut Champagne, and their marketing also reflects this sort of glimmery backless-dress swankiness. The fragrance reminds me a lot of Fragonard's Diamant, which also draws Coco Mademoiselle comparisons (having not smelled the Chanel, I can't comment). Same structure of orange top, jasmine heart, amber base. Diamant also gave me dimly-lit gold glitter vibes, so I think I see what they were going for here.

The orange is appropriately sparkling up top, but the rest of Gold never quite rises to the occasion. The florals and ambers are there, but they feel thin and cardboardy. This glass of Champagne has been left out too long and gone flat. It's still nice, especially for the price, but it doesn't achieve the heights it sets out for.

The Creamiest Aspect of Coco Mademoiselle
Cabotine Gold immediately broke into my heart, unlike the original Cabotine that had to woo me insistently. Its vivid and dazzling notes have kidnapped my senses at the first sniff, perhaps thanks to the similarity with Coco Mademoiselle that I cherish. Without changing the bottle shape, but just the colour, Gold comes with a flask decorated with a golden floral motif. The well-known Cabotine cap is of bright champagne, and so is the juice inside. Well, I don’t know if Gold is allegedly a flanker of the original. Still, for sure, they share nothing, being Gold an excellent fragrance with a flowery oriental touch, nothing green, herbal, or too tuberous here.

Gold caresses my skin with an explosion of boozy and sour tones. The pulpy mandarin orange of the top notes is uplifting and plays with the perfect touch of irreverent patchouli that doesn’t want to wait its turn and pushes hard. Then, a spicy and fruity accord soon joins that concoction, pink pepper crumbles over very ripe succulent melon, a tad fleeting. It is spicy, but in the right measure, with the gentleness of the pink peppercorn and not too much to kill other notes. The dark patchouli calms down as a sweeter, creamier accord elevates. The initial stage is fresh, fruity, and citrus, the fruit giving off a spring vibe. It is incredibly magnetic.

A few minutes pass, and suddenly the voluptuous white floral aspect blooms; there is mellifluous jasmine that dances cheek to cheek with the Tiare flower while the biting pink peony watches the dance from the backstage. The aroma is not all too sweet, instead is soapy; the presence of the darkened base notes harmonized the overall bouquet. Here we have a middle stage full of blossoms.
As the perfume continues to develop softened patchouli with warmer tones of amber grow, sweet and gold amber not akin to ambroxan or any other modern molecules, with a perfect earthy touch of dry vetiver; it takes a virile turn on the dry down because of vetiver. The more the perfume develops, the softer and more creamy it becomes, while still following in the footsteps of Coco Mademoiselle. Gold is more citrus though, perhaps with enhanced jasmine, and it tones the patchouli down; it isn’t so overwhelming that it drowns out everything else, though. The similarity between Gold and Coco does not make a clone of one another, yet puts the two fragrances in the same ballpark. Slightly resembles Coco Mademoiselle, but I wouldn’t call it a dupe. Gold warms with beautiful amber and becomes ever so lightly sweet and sour.

I find Gold crisp, light, appealing, and sweetly understated. It has distinct layers; the scent changes over time and is unisex all the way. If a man wears it, it would be a sparkling, clean, masculine scent. Highly recommended for warm seasons like spring and summer, perhaps it could work on summer evenings and nights out. It is light, harmless, perfect to wear anywhere and anytime, whether in the office or in your free time. Underrated, cheap, but of excellent quality! Silage is decent here, it projects moderately, but is not a room-killer. If you like Coco Mademoiselle, and you’re looking for a softer and lighter version, this is for you.

This review bases upon a 100ml (3.4 Fl. oz) I own since July 2019.

Golden sparkle(r)s
Gold is not glittering, but shimmering with an understated elegance, both in design and its content.
The warm, almost effervescent scent evokes a certain feeling of festiveness - be it New Year's Eve or any other celebration which finds a certain excitement in the air, anticipating the unknown. The opening citrus turns on the lights and pink pepper adds the sparkles. The flowers are tastefully placed in the background to add to the splendour; they harmonise well into the whole picture without claiming too much attention. The minimum of sweetness comes from fruit and flowers, and the overall composition feels weightless - lucent and airy, thanks to the lack of the usually omnipresent cast like vanilla, musk or synthetic woods that would pull it down to the ground.
After the quite enchanting introduction, vetiver with a slightly bitter, boozy note shows up with a facet I call the 'shaving cream', turning the whole into a sweetened, spicy scent that I rather would smell on a man. Unfortunately, it remains this way for the longest part until reduced to a faint amber sweetness in the sixth hour.

Gold ultimately did not work on my skin which tends to bring out the base notes fast and most, but it retained its initial beauty when worn by another person.
While I agree about its resemblance to other famous fragrances with a spicy, citrus-patchouli combination, I find this Cabotine flanker of a more subtle and somewhat relaxed nature, the latter characteristics true to the essence of the original Cabotine. Discontinued and the largest bottle available for the price of two one-way tickets. I recommend trying if you like fragrances of the above-mentioned type.

Long-lasting floral oriental in the style of "Coco Mademoiselle"
Excellent staying-power, fantastic sillage, a very low price coupled with an attractive vessel and a brand I used to love (thinking of Cabochard or Cabaret)- yet I rated this fragrance with 50%. Why? It's a knock-off, a floral oriental which smells like a cross between Chanel's "Coco Mademoiselle EdT" and Yves Saint Laurent's "Elle". Since there are many gals and guys out there who LOVE "Coco Mademoiselle" and/or "Elle", I can only recommend you test "Cabotine Gold" as long as it is still available. I paid 7 Euros for my 100 ml bottle. There are many "Coco Mademoiselle" - copies which smell much worse, don't last and come in awfully ugly vessels. This said - why has the house of GRES gone down the drain? Since the release of "Cabaret" in 2003, they have stopped producing anything outstanding.

Smells more expensive and like a mix of J'adore+CM in the opening. Vetiver plays the dreaded shavingcream on me, otherwise an overlooked gem
