Do you see the sparks flying in the sky, rising like cool-green drops of juniper rain from distant campfires, their dark mists drifting through the forests and crackling into the underbrush? Do you hear the red cedar beating like fruity-woody wine in my veins, the hissing of the cool pine needles in the annual rings of resinous shavings? There in the oak barrels dwell fleeting shadows of the spirits of my ancestors, made from black vanilla. Do you smell the mulch in my clothes, sewn from the leaves of tobacco fields, keeping me warm here in the woods, in the dust of cocoa over earthy paths that lie many hours ahead of me? I come from long lines of cedar wood and ancient pines.

Hans Hendley's "Bloodline" is based on an oil that Hendley's father distilled from a red cedar that stood on the Texas family property. Its aroma is reminiscent of fruity red wine from wooden barrels, which is dominated by a chord of cool pine needles, soft tobacco leaves, and robust Swiss pine resins from pitch. However, the beginning is marked by smoky juniper notes of the red cedar, before soon the leading motif, flanked by oak notes reminiscent of an old whiskey barrel with residual aromas of dark vanilla, emerges. Some time later, notes of bitter cocoa and earth from dark patchouli become perceptible, while the balsamic labdanum and oak moss add even more depth and darkness beneath the increasingly dominant Swiss pine.
A fascinating, moderately projecting, and long-lasting fragrance that initially exudes the spirit of "Fum" or "Norne," but then works in a more complex manner, carrying echoes of "Pine Barrens" or "Desert Resin," and thus ranks among the great natural fragrances for me.
... how rich, beautiful, and warm your inner life seems to be - - Bloodline :)o .... To share this with us, you’ve charmed one of the most eloquent translators ;) ..... wonderfully conveyed, dear Floyd ....
Extremely atmospheric description - and also a super interesting background. It's a shame that this type of fragrance almost always contains devil's herb (patchouli)...
Enchanting words - as always. Especially touching are your emotions, the bloodline, and your description, which resembles a tasting. It must truly be a wonderful fragrance.
Yes, I can smell the mulch in your tobacco clothes that I sewed for you. Good thing they keep you warm. We still have a long way to go until sharing. We have to wait for the next batch and hope there will be one.
Wonderful in terms of expressionistic scent harmony, truly a top-notch Floyd creation, and then almost a perfect 10... I enjoyed sniffing along in spirit and would happily give a fragrant and resonant mulch trophy filled with vanilla pudding!
So this is what intergenerational work in the Wild West looks like, unless you come from a family in Grasse. The Hendley approach sounds great in general, and this one in particular. Your write-up on it is fantastic!
A scent profile that's just to my taste. So beautifully described, the red cedar. A truly fabulous oil drizzles onto dark soil. Great job, my friend!!!
Absolutely fabulous, absolutely fabulous. Very versatile and extremely interesting ingredients seem to be included. It reads like a best of favorite notes :D
Even with a near-perfect score, you can't make this scent appealing to me. If it smells smoky, I'm out! 😉
Trash can trophy for you and the lovely description!
Finally got a sample and I'm so excited...
I would love to follow this path.
Juniper rain, campfire, dark patchouli, red cedar, I'm blown away...
Great description again!
But this one seems to be related to them.
Sounds very interesting.
if my dad had distilled trees...
Bicycle chain.
Trash can trophy for you and the lovely description!
