Ciel Man Amouage 2003

This is a pissy soapy mess. Really strong urine opening with kind of a leafy accord, then goes into a Dial-esque soap accord. And by urine I don't mean a legitimate animalic note but it's some combination of aromachemicals, bergamot, tinny rose and lily of the valley, and lavender that is creating the impression of a hastily-cleaned men's restroom with fresh urinal cakes. Not sure where anyone is getting any fruit from (a reviewer on Fragrantica even called this GOURMAND). Or any spice for that matter. It's just a lavender-bergamot soap with heady indolic florals on a patchouli base. It probably is the freshest Amouage I've ever tried, which isn't saying much. I'm drawing parallels to Ege which also reminded me of urine and had this weird green freshness, although Ciel is a lot more soapy. Absolutely can't stand this one. Discontinuing it was a good decision, and I don't say that lightly.
