Gloria Dei

...is a very well-known and widely spread rose variety. It is at home in many gardens. It is relatively hardy, has large, full, yellow flowers that gradually transition to a rosy-orange, and emits a strong fragrance.

The scent of this rose reminds me of Nostalgie des Roses by Angana. I can definitely smell the essential oils of the orange peel and also the softness of chamomile and the fine citrusy geranium at the outset. Yet throughout, the rose is present, fully bloomed and at the peak of its fragrance diffusion.

The scent is sweet, but only as sweet as the flowers themselves. Despite the various components, I perceive Nostalgie des Roses as a soliflore. Later, a fine and light powderiness emerges, while at the same time, the scent is distinctly more citrusy directly on the skin - and only there. Interesting!

The sillage is exceptionally good, as is the longevity. Angana fragrances are largely composed of natural components and therefore do not possess the finesse of great perfumes. They cannot compete with the fragrances of Les Parfums de Rosine. But they are definitely worth a try.

Bean wax?? No, I didn't smell that, but the base is definitely strange.

I find it dreadful. The base smells like old floor wax.

I still need to get to the rose (I’m already looking forward to it)!
