Who forgot their lemon sorbet on the freshly mowed lawn?
Dear Parfumos,
sometimes you apply a fragrance and immediately have images in your head - images that try to visually manifest what you have smelled. This happened to me this morning in a bathroom, somewhere in southern Germany...
Since a nice Parfumo, who had seen that I own this fragrance, asked me a few questions about it, I wanted to take the practical test (for clarification: I often test new arrivals first on a blotter to get an initial impression, then banish it to the "waiting list" until it's its turn...) and answer the questions. So I sprayed a handful of spritzes on the designated spots - and there it was...a freshly mowed lawn in late spring (or early summer, whichever you prefer), with a large cup of lemon sorbet sitting on it, garnished with a mint leaf. Now I kindly ask the amateur and professional psychologists to spare me the behavioral profiles and analyses of my childhood - I would ignore it anyway. But that's how it smelled to me when I sprayed on the Sport-Animale.
For those who cannot relate to such associations, here’s the sober (individual) scent analysis: the top note is dominated by hesperidic notes (lemon and bergamot), I can perceive a bit of mint and sandalwood. After about half an hour, the citrus fruits slowly recede into the background, and the pear, which I could only very vaguely guess at the beginning, becomes a bit stronger. From now on, I have this grassy accord, paired with a sweet wood accord, in my nose, flanked by the pear - not a bad combination. The sweetness remains moderate, and the (as I perceive it) grassy accord ensures lasting freshness. After about 4 hours, the base is reached - here woods and vetiver dominate. The fragrance lasts about 6 hours, but after about 4 hours it can only be faintly sensed.
On its own, the scent is quite pleasant and the longevity is okay. However, the sillage is its Achilles' heel: after just one hour, the fragrance is so subtle that I can only smell it if I move my nose very close to my forearm. Since it is so weak, it is only suitable for me for hot days or for occasions where olfactory restraint is a must. But for the price (200ml for just under 22 euros), this is bearable, as it is qualitatively better than most competitors in this price range....
