Nose Wonder with Delay

It was once in winter 2010. I was in the worst shopping frenzy with my best friend in a perfume store. A small thin roller caught my eye. Aaah, the new scent from Annayake... let's test it out at lightning speed... hmmm, pleasant, bought!

At home, then the bitter or old sugary surprise during a more extensive rolling. Phew, clumsy vanilla pudding paired with overripe sunflower and a hint of fruity peach, somewhere hidden in the background. I spontaneously think of an aging geisha sitting sadly in the cherry blossom garden.

After two more scent tests on later days, unfortunately the same result... sweet, somehow "old" (the freesia? The strange sunflower??). Off to the deepest corner of my fragrance cabinet.

Now, a few months later, just for fun, I rolled it on again with Old-Geisha-meets-heartbreak touch. Once the first freesia attack is over, my sensitive nose suddenly finds pleasure. It catches a pleasant scent, fruity with peach and soft with gentle vanilla, very, very sweet, but somehow specially pleasant... The next day another test... promptly, I am approached by a male being, asking what a fine scent surrounds me, sweet but not overpowering. Now the final test: my boyfriend has to weigh in. His comment: hmmm, I like it. But whether I take this review seriously, since he unfortunately also likes Cashmir by Chopard, Alien by Mugler, and Vanilla Bomb Le Bain by Joop! I would place Miyake in that previously mentioned fragrance category without hesitation!

Nevertheless: Miyabi by Annayake (I am now having a large bottle brought to me) has somehow convinced me in this delayed run. It will certainly not become my favorite, but the scent is sweet-special, especially when the peach scent comes through. My personal conclusion: Something for the exotic-erotic mood in between, when a woman wants to conquer, for a party night under the starry sky.
