Smells like Finnish smoke-sauna in the beginning! Smoke, wood, tar. Later softer, dark resins, leather notes, light sweetness and vanilla.

In case you’re interested: in Finland usually the best saunas are called savusauna (smoke-sauna), type of sauna that is heated by burning woods to heat the stones, but there’s no isolated stove, the sauna is full of smoke during the heating process (various hours). Then when there’s enough heat, fire dies and smoke is let out by the door and possible windows, and then you can enter the sauna. It’s totally black and smells smoky. The sap from wood walls and ceilings come out because of the heat. Sometimes it is mixed with water and thrown to the hot stones which gives a nice resin smell. I would think mostly Finnish people have very good memories of smoke sauna as they are mostly found in the country side so it’s usually cottage, friends, lake or sea, nature, relaxing, holidays. Makes me feel nostalgic, being in city now, and summer’s over 😄
