Dreamy Fig Scent and a Brief Comparison to a Well-Known Niche Product

In gathering information about statements and reviews as well as testing through samples, I wanted to once again actively seek inspiration in a perfume shop. It is always a joy to stand in front of the colorful shelves and consider which scent to test next (and to think about which ones I have already tried). Especially with niche fragrances, the expectations and demands are higher, as the price/performance ratio is different here.

On that day, I had already tested several fragrances from well-known brands, but unfortunately, nothing had blown me away. I was standing there, feeling resigned, when the patient and very friendly salesperson mentioned the name "Yakamoz," reached into the very bottom shelf for an inconspicuous (and honestly unattractive) box, and said, “Maybe Yakamoz is for you.” My response was: “Yakamoz???” I was skeptical, as the name was completely unknown to me, and the packaging, as mentioned, did not look very appealing. However, then the sprayer came onto the test strip… hmmm, this seems familiar. I was hooked! I really liked the scent! But which fragrance does it remind me of!? I got two generous sprays on my wrists and went back to the office.

On the way back, I immediately entered "Yakamoz" on Parfumo and lo and behold… similar to "Nefs" by Nishane. That’s it, right! About three weeks prior, out of curiosity, I had gotten a sample of Nefs. Like perhaps some others, I wanted to know what a fragrance in this price segment might smell like. My conclusion: I find this scent very good. With the caveat that I don’t like the oud note in "Nefs." Oud is just not my thing. I believe there is hardly anything in between. Either you like oud or you don’t.

For me, Yakamoz is similar to "Nefs," without being a dupe. If one can speak of a dupe for a fragrance priced around €150 for 100ml. The scents share fig, rose, cinnamon, and vanilla. But Yakamoz is without oud, instead featuring bergamot. This gives it, in my opinion, a different touch or a certain freshness that I don’t see in comparison to Nefs.

In Yakamoz, the fig is at the forefront. But due to the bergamot, it also comes across, as already described, as subtly fresh. The rose (which is also not necessarily my favorite) is definitely noticeable, but it stays just right in the background, which could be due to the lovely combination with ylang-ylang. And the vanilla is perceptible as well, but here it purely rounds off into a latent creaminess. With four sprays, the scent easily lasts all day, and I can still perceive it on myself in the evening. And since I was also asked in the evening if I had sprayed myself again, my surroundings apparently noticed it too.

Yakamoz is a very high-quality perfume (Extrait de Parfum). For me, the scent is even suitable for year-round wear, although one would need to be careful with the dosage in summer, and in high temperatures, the evening would certainly be more appropriate. I only know the two described fig scents. For those who prefer fresher fragrances and do not associate oud with themselves, Yakamoz is a great scent and probably the better choice compared to Nefs (not least because of the price).

As already mentioned here, Yakamoz flies under the radar for me as well. I have been intensively involved with perfume for about two years, but honestly, I had never heard of ArteOlfatto-Luxury Perfumes, and the brand or the scent itself has never caught my attention in numerous YouTube videos. My expressed criticism of the outer packaging definitely does not apply to the content. The bottle looks great and is very high quality. The same goes for the sprayer. And most importantly, the scent is something special for me and not a mass product!

In the end, I went back to the perfume shop a week later, kindly thanked them for this insider tip, and left again with the subjectively unattractive box. The price/performance ratio is 100% on point here, and I often enjoy this wonderful scent!

I think your statement is really well written.. however, I want to point out that there is indeed Oud in Yakamoz :) But the Oud doesn't go in a sharp, animalistic direction; it's more like the very pleasant Oud found in PdM Haltane or Initio Oud for Greatness.
