Fantastic fig scent and a brief comparison with a well-known niche product
Despite all the information gathering via statements and reviews as well as testing through bottlings, I wanted to go to a perfumery again to be actively inspired. It's always a pleasure to stand in front of the colorful shelves and think about which fragrances you could still test (and which ones you have already tested). Especially with niche fragrances, the expectations and demands are higher, as the price/performance ratio is different here.
I had already tested a few fragrances from well-known brands that day, but unfortunately there was nothing that completely blew me away. I was already standing there resigned when the patient and very friendly sales assistant mentioned the name "Yakamoz", reached into the very bottom shelf for an inconspicuous (and honestly unattractive) box and said: "Maybe the Yakamoz is something for you". My reply was: "Yakamoz???". I was skeptical, as the name was completely unfamiliar to me and the packaging, as I said, also looked less promotional. But then came the sprayer on the test strip...hmmm, that looks familiar. I was hooked! I really liked the scent! But what fragrance do I associate it with? I got two more big sprays on my wrists and went back to the office.
On the way back, I typed "Yakamoz" directly into Parfumo and lo and behold.... similar to "Nefs" by Nishane. That was it, right! I had bought a bottling of Nefs about 3 weeks earlier out of curiosity. Like perhaps some others, I wanted to know what a fragrance in this price segment might smell like. My conclusion: I think this fragrance is very good. With the caveat that I don't like the oud note in "Nefs". Oud is simply not my thing. I think there's hardly anything in between here. You either like oud or you don't.
For me, the Yakamoz is similar to the "Nefs" without being a dupe. If you can speak of a dupe for a fragrance costing around 150€ for 100ml. The fragrances have fig, rose, cinnamon and vanilla in common. But the Yakamoz is without oud, but with bergamot. In my opinion, this gives it a different touch or a certain freshness that I don't see in comparison to the Nefs.
With Yakamoz, the fig is in the foreground. But the bergamot also gives it a subtle freshness, as already described. The rose (not necessarily mine either) is definitely perceptible, but stays just right in the background, which could be due to the lovely combination with the ylang-ylang. And the vanilla is also perceptible, but here to round it off into a latent creaminess. With 4 sprays, the fragrance easily lasts the whole day and I can still smell it on myself in the evening. And since I've already been asked in the evening whether I've sprayed it on myself again, apparently so have those around me.
Yakamoz is a very high quality perfume (extrait de parfum). For me, the fragrance is even suitable all year round, although you would have to be careful with the dosage in summer and the evening is certainly more suitable in high temperatures. I only know the two fig fragrances described. If you are more into fresher fragrances and don't like oud, Yakamoz is a great fragrance and probably the better choice compared to Nefs (not least because of the price).
As has already been described here, Yakamoz also flies under the radar for me. I've only been intensively involved with perfume for about 2 years, but to be honest I've never heard of ArteOlfatto-Luxury Perfumes and I've never noticed the brand or the fragrance itself in numerous YouTube videos. In any case, my criticism of the outer packaging does not apply to the contents. The bottle looks great and is very high quality. The same applies to the sprayer. And most importantly, the fragrance is something special for me and not a mass product!
In the end, I went to the perfumery a week later, thanked them kindly for this insider tip and left with the subjectively unattractive box. The price/performance ratio is 100% right here and I enjoy this great fragrance very often!
