As with Black Purple, there is also a suspicion with Katana that I have smelled something similar before. Unfortunately, I can't quite pinpoint where, but I suspect it's not just in one other perfume: Pasha de Cartier? Caron's Le 3ieme Homme? Or perhaps Creed's Erolfa?
Katana is a bright spicy fragrance, essentially featuring a very bitter, dry spice that is well described by the note of coriander. I found an attractive animalic note that runs throughout the entire fragrance and complements the spice.
Personally, I am not a big fan of bright, bitter spicy fragrances, and Katana is a very typical representative of this genre. The slightly animalic undertone - perhaps due to a musk - is certainly a plus. Katana has a bitter-masculine character and is definitely not the worst choice within this fragrance direction.
I am slowly getting the impression that Atelier Flou is focusing on well-made copies of what already exists. In doing so, Atelier Flou would be following a similar path to the brand Odori with some of their fragrances. Whether Katana is the better Pasha de Cartier - I will leave that question to the enthusiasts of this fragrance direction.
What a coincidence... yesterday I tested "Erolfa" by Creed, and it was just so bland. :) And what about you? Coincidence? ;) Anyway, it doesn't sound very positive, let's see if I fly to Dortmund today and expand my collection.... :)
